Castlevania: Lament of Innocence

ive been trying to beat this game without using walkthroughs or anything, but i cant just beat death. ive checked several walkthroughs and the boss FAQ here on GFAQs, and none of them help much. they just say stuff like "take lots of potions, dont use sub weapons, avoid the skulls, dont get hit by the fire" and thats it. what i want to know is what to do when he sends those bolts of energy at you, sicne they damage even when you block, and i cant seem to dodge them. what do i do? is there some secret to beating him?

If you want to dodge that attack, you need to perfect guard it. But since this is a pretty hard thing to do, I suggest you try to obtain the invincibility jar. This a relic dropped by the Mirage Skeleton (found on B1in Pagoda of the Misty Moon) which will make you invulnerable to all attacks for a certain period of time. After you get the jar, I suggest you grind for a few Mana Prism too. When you fight death active your relic when he does one of his nasty attacks ( make sure you also do this when he does his Deadly Tempest attack since you can only avoid it by doing a perfect guard).

The rest is skill.

The Deadly Tempest is the only problem move, and only when you don't know how to deal with it.

You can perfect guard all 4 shots, but you need to run forward a few steps or you'll be pushed out of the next shots range which will stuff it up.

I've never tried perfect guarding the shock waves from each shot. But everything else in the game can be guarded so probably.

The other easier way is to just run away from the shot and jump the shock wave.
