"Add Socket to an Item: 1 unsocketed item, 2 gems of equal or greater level."

That explains it. I thought it meant an item already with a socket but that's empty.

I am wondering how the gem upgrade works. Anyone know the mechanics?
Gamefaqs has taught us that academic fields like literature don't exist because of teenagers that say "well that's just your opinion and I disagree."

Also, I am assuming that it averages the level of the items used?

yeah, i've noticed it just averages the item instead of upgrading the type of gem from say....+4 fire damage to a +15 fire damage. tried it with the same 3 gems and got a 14% knockback resist: armor/ 15% crit damage: weapon. 0_o

Does anyone know if there is a way to add more than just one slot to an item?

Or maybe if there is a way to create rejuvenation potions?

Combining gems doesn't make a direct upgrade. It seems to give you a new rare gem with a random effect. I've made two so far; one had a bonus to dual wielding and pet armor, the other hat pet attack or a bonus to execute.

There's an Socketer in the game who can add sockets for monies.
