Fishing the permanent transformation fishes

#1BlackmonPosted 10/4/2012 9:29:51 AM
I've been fishing on every spot I see, hoping to get lucky on at least 1 giant or huge fish so I can permanently transform my pet.

My question is, are the giant or huge fish for permanent transformation able to be fished at low level areas? Do they have the same chances of being caught at lower level areas compared to mid and higher level areas? What about the fishing spot at the first town?

You can catch Giant fish in the Estherian Enclave.

Rule 2. If in any case I appear wrong, refer to rule 1.

Thanks for clearing that up. Now I can try and fish as much as I can in hopes that I get lucky.

I can personally confirm that you can fish out permanent transform fishes from the first town at low levels. I just got a Giant Warsnout through 20-30 minutes of straight fishing (was watching TV while fishing, so it wasn't basically 20-30 min).

Now I'm looking to see if warbeasts are good :)

certinally you got some normal warsnout fish in that time. just take note of your pet's base stats (health, armor and damage) then use a normal warsnout fish then compare the new stats.

if you like the difference, go ahead and use the perm. just keep in mind that it isnt really a permanent transform, you can still feed your pet other fish and it will overwrite the permanent one. its more like a 'transform with no time limit' than it is permanent.. still nice though

I'd say 3/10 of the Secret Fishing Holes I've found had Giants... I haven't reached act 3 yet. (2 many chars)

Yep, Warbeasts are good. They do like, 150% minimum damage and 200% maximum damage.

Looks like in Torchlight 2, the pet transformations don't mess with the stats much aside from what is said in the fish. For example, the spider one in T1 reduced some stats and gave it the web ability, while in T2 it just adds the web. I checked some others, and just they add the thing it says it does (double defences from the crab and nothing else, molebeast adds the stun and changes nothing, etc).

Jackalbeast has extra poison resistance and has about 115% attack, that doesn't show up in the text. And I have no idea exactly what the Mimic changes are because it just says that's it's "superior" <_<'
