Speaking of cowboys and gunslingers, look no further than Vash the Stampede in the anime Trigun for a prime example of that. He's also a red trenchcoat-wearing gunslinger, similar to Dante. Look at Alucard from Hellsing for yet another example.

Trench coats are cool no matter what the time frame. Kind of a classic cool look. The thing is, the coat is a minor thing to me.
