Yea but it's young in the development process, there whole company isn't going to go down for that one comment. There are still people who liked HS and Enslaved and like the company itself. The game was announced like a month and a half ago. We still have another 12 months of developments and PR before anything is ruined. I really doubt that what they've done up until now would ruin their company.

Still a long way to go before you can compare this to a debacle.

One thing is for sure, he's not trying to win over old fans with his comments. (or is trying very badly)

i haven't heard/read of him saying anything to smooth over the problems people have with the changes.

so far almost every interview he's been apart of his comments seem to be saying forget the old stuff it's no longer any good what we are doing is the way to go.

if he was bit more understanding of the stance the complainers are coming from them maybe we wouldn't be as angry. I know i still would be against the changes, but i wouldn't be angry at this guy, just disappointed in capcom.

The thing is that this game is likely costlier than HS and Enslaved combined and, even worse, his horrible PR ensures that people aren't even getting Enslaved because nobody likes supporting an ass.
It's just another big round of buckshot in his foot.

Tameem acts the exact same way as Mitch did (head PR of Fasa). It *WILL* cause problems with the sales as I'm pretty sure that there are already several DMC fans who outright won't get the game already solely on how he talks about Dante from DMC 1-4.

Well then honestly if people won't get this game even if it comes out good then that's their loss. I really see it the other way around though. You're boycott consisted of 15 million people, the petition to get this game scrapped doesn't even have 10, 000 signatures and its been going around since day one. It really is way to early to tell.

Also he never said the old games were bad, he just said they weren't modern. That's not an insult to the game play or to the game overall, just the design of the game. You guys are making it sound like he said the old games sucked and he was going to make this game better. he never said that, he just said he wanted to modernize this game and give it a new style. That doesn't equal to the old games being bad. He's even said in interviews that he was honored to be a part of DMC and that it was a big project and he was shocked he's in charge of it and he's excited about it. You guys really just pick out of the 4 lines of dialogue he says, two words and then turn it against him.

Yes, he can come out and say just wait and see or something. Should he apologize to us? Hell no, for what? because we don't like the game so far? That's ridiculous. I think he should've said something along the lines of, just hang in there new info will come out soon, but should he apologize? Hell no, he really hasn't done anything wrong. You guys just don't his tone and personality but he hasn't done anything wrong.

He just said the old games weren't modern and that the old Dante wouldn't be able to walk into a bar now. He said it was cool back then, but now he wants to give it a more modern style. you guys are painting it as him saying the old games suck, and whatever he says goes which isn't what he's saying at all.

as most longtime fans outright feel insulted
Couldn't agree with you more!

If I were in the business, I'd choose to save my own company. It is NOT bad PR to say "I can understand the criticism, however, we have something planned that will take all doubt away, but this will be revealed later". In fact this will likely take away a lot of doubt and ease the backlash.
It is also NOT bad PR to say "We would have preferred to work with a more recognizable Dante, but Capcom said they wanted to take it in a new direction and redlighted adaptions closer to the real Dante."

This isn't "throwing the boss down", this is saving your own company for getting a really *REALLY* bad name.

However, Tameem does none of this. He insults the older Dante while trying to raise the junkie he brought forth on a pedestal. It's outright insulting to the fans of the series and his entire "I don't care" attitude just makes matters WORSE.

You win ^^

Tameem acts the exact same way as Mitch did (head PR of Fasa). It *WILL* cause problems with the sales
Exactly, like I've said multiple times, if experience tells you these moves are a bad decision of course people will react negatively. Nothing about this screams good decision and the PR is just utter crap!

Err... Stink he just said why people are offended.

He just said the old games weren't modern and that the old Dante wouldn't be able to walk into a bar now. He said it was cool back then, but now he wants to give it a more modern style. you guys are painting it as him saying the old games suck, and whatever he says goes which isn't what he's saying at all.
He specifically said Dante would get laughed out and he doesn't care what the fans think. You're making Tameem out as a martyr, when he dug the hole himself.
Like Toiletbrush said, this is bad PR. Fans don't want to hear a contradicting opinion from the one they're entrusting their series to, either neutral comments or what they want to hear. Not insults to their iconic protagonist and not to hear their opinions don't matter because the developer doesn't care.
As if the change wasn't bad enough, we also have a person like Tameem whose games aren't too flattering considering what he has to live up to. I personally didn't enjoy either game at all. Furthermore I hate the animations they're using, and from the looks of it, they're in charge of, at least, the animations... Which is worrying.
Just give the fans a DMC collection to ease off the pain.

I second the DMC collection!

I'm not making him out to be the martyr as much as you guys are making him out to be the anti-christ. I admitted it was a bad move, but I still think it's way to early to judge how everything will turn out you know?

I was saying he shouldn't apologize because I read on this topic I think in an earlier post that someoen said he should apologize (it might be another topic, as this has been mentioned in almost all of them) but I get the impression fans want an apology from him, I just don't think he has anything to apologize for.

The fans are sensitive right now, so is him saying "I don't care" a bad move, yes because everyone is already pissed off. I really think though, that he doesn't care because he either A) feels confident about the product and thinks he can make it up to all of us or B) Capcom is telling him to keep everything covered and not spill any info.

I know you say he should say something to save face, but Capcom is a million times bigger than NT. If he were to say "Something is coming soon" and Capcom didn't want him to say it, he could be in trouble. I don't think Capcom said " Hey! Tell everyone yo don't care!". But they could have said "Hey, don't let anything slip anymore, keep everything under wraps and if you're interviewed by a bad writer, blow him off".

Ok, the last bit was probably to detailed, but maybe you can see where I'm getting at.

Again, I don't disagree with either of you. I've already admitted on other posts it was a bad PR move, being proven wrong from what I initially thought. So I know it's wrong, I just think it's to early to call this "excruciatingly horrible and doesn't have a chance".

He pretty much states that dante at this time would be laughed out of a bar... But Dante was never the type to fit into the regular day to day crowd. It's not that he's no longer modern, it's that he's a fictional character in a fictional world where they don't wear the normal attire that we do ( except maybe lady)

So they (capcom/NT) want to change the style of the game to make it fit more into the real world... and people are against it. And they are not saying "we understand the changes are glaring and you guys have your doubts but we truly beleive what we are doing will pay off and you will not be disappointed" (instead a mod in the capcom unity mb said something to this effect which is what i would have expected but is not what i get from tameen. Maybe that mod should be the pr guy for this game).

Instead he says "I don't care" when asked about his feelings on our opinion. So are as this topic goes I agree with TC.

I would agree with Stink if we were saying the gameplay sucks (yeah i guess some are saying that, i myself have doubts based on their past games but have not codemned the gameplay...yet :) then at this time he should be more a mindset of i don't care. but even then he shouldn't ACTUALLY say that. And i know stink isn't arguing over the "i don't care" line now, but i still had to put that out there.

The way I feel is that it's the usual small group of haters then ignoring them makes since. But when at least 70% of the fandom hates your guts you should at least find a better way to word it.us

I guess we can say the gameplay sucks because it doesn't exist yet :P

But now that I think about it more, the more I dislike the idea of making characters look more "real world". Can you imagine a more realistic Mario, Luigi, or any other Nintendo character, except Link? Imagine a realistic Sonic. Oh yeah, I definitely wanna play as a regular hedgehog. It just detracts of the overall... uh... aesthetic, I guess.
