I think part of Ninja Theory's problem is being based in England

Now before all the people in the UK flame me, let me explain.

Tameem said he wanted it to have a more hip and "underground" feel. But he based it on what was popular in England. Now when catering to a western audience, the majority of sales are going to be coming from America. And what is popular or "underground" there might be seen as cliche or reviled in the US.

For example, maybe the whole emo look is really popular among gamers in the UK, I don't know, I don't live there. So maybe alot of the things that people are complaining about are things that, when he was doing "research", in England, were cool.

Maybe if he had looked at the US scene he might've come across some music like Knives Out! or Pitch Black Forecast or any number of bands or even genres. And maybe he would've come across some different styles that aren't native to the UK.

Just putting in two cents.
Flame away.

...btw, I live in Australia...

I don't know much about this "underground" deals but I don't really buy into DMC because of its rock soundtracks. I like DMC3's theme song a lot but even if it were different I think I wouldn't care. It's just that I don't think DMC's whole "culture" just doesn't fit with punk. And yes; I don't like punk music at all...

Yeah, DMC series really isn't punk. More goth or metal, etc.

My fellow metal head, I feel for you. Though I will say that the US has a huge underground scene that largely supports.. you guessed it, British rock. Thingns like the Clash and sex pistols have a huge fanbase in the "underground" scene.

I don't really like it, but I'm not going to say it doesn't exist. Being cool now is the whole twilight British rock thing for teenagers. Wearing skinny jeans and having short long hair is the rage now. Me? Well... I'll stick to Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer and wear jeans that fit.

Yes, DMC always had a more rocker vibe. Not punk. Dante definitely had that in DMC3.

DMC did have a goth vibe more than anything, so if thy had those gothic architectures it would be good. I'm not a fna of the new music, but I don't really pay attention to that when I'm killing things in a video game.

WhatTameem thinks is Punk isn't really Punk though. Also I agree with the other posters the DMC titles always had a Goth, Metal vibe and Punk really doesn't fit it.
