Pro And Con DmC

#1Vault_ZeroPosted 1/5/2012 5:49:47 PM
Being a hardcore Con DmC user, I hate everything DmC, for now.

From the moment that only the rumor hit that Ninja Theory was developing it, I knew there was going to be trouble.

In the light of weighing the Pros and Cons of this game, I started thinking: What exactly are the good things about this game in the light of comparing them to previous Devil May Cry games?

Even with Devil May Cry 2, the much hated one, I can think of good points that where inserted in that game.

I would like to see a firm list of Pros and Cons in this topic, while trying to maintain neutrality. Don't get me wrong, neutrality is impossible, but let's at least give it a shot.

I'll start:

Pro: - I got nothing.

Con: - 30 FPS
- Inferior Engine

I don't think those Cons are debatable. Granted, one can utilize 30 FPS or the Unreal Engine to good use, when done right.

Seeing the track record of previous Ninja Theory games, we can safely assume that they won't, although induction has been wrong before.

Thank you for the cooperation.

Pros

High quality cinematics

-including motion capture, facial animations, better voice acting, better dialogue, better story, better developed characters.

High quality graphics

-Heavenly Sword was one of the best looking launch games, Enslaved was one of the best looking multiplat games, and DmC looks like it will continue that trend.

Platforming

-Including shifting enviornment

Not a repeat

-Almost everything will be fresh, it wont be a rehash of anything.

New soundtrack

-This is a pro or a con depending on your taste in music.

Cons

-Combat system almost certainly wont be as deep, game probably wont be as smooth.

Pros

-Interesting premise (demons influencing/having an effect on the real world)
-Shifting city is awesome!
-Lots of color
-Multiple weapons
-Love the atmosphere
-Love the character design

Cons

-A.I. not aggressive enough (wont attack while in the air)
-Same enemies (thus far)
-Probably wont be as in depth, different combos and juggling.
-30 FPS

Pros:
- Good looking environments
- Better Plot (Yet to be determined)
- Not as over the top or anime-"ish" as DMC 3&4
- Lot more air combat
- City architecture under control of demons mechanic similar to the movie "Dark City" awesome movie btw.

Cons:
- Not as over the top as DMC 3&4
- Too much air combat (Gravity, me like)
- Donte isn't Dante
- Unimaginative character design
- Unimaginative enemy design
- OP Devil Trigger
- Ugly as sin Devil Trigger forme
- Repetitive combat system
- Not as cool as DMC (YMMV)
- Uses profanity as a means to make the designers feel "sophisticated"
- Piss poor public relations
- Too many moves on different weapons that should only be on one
- Half human half demon plot device retcon
- Horrible enemy AI
- Evasion rolls cover too much distance
- Whip move is too OP and has too much reliability
- Too much inspiration taken from other action games and movies

Not sure what "piss poor public relations" and "means to make the designers feel 'sophisticated'" have to do with the game itself. Seems more like personal opinion regarding the developers rather than the actual game itself to me, but okay...

pros:
Fan of ninja theory, like their trackrecord so far
DMC kinda hit a dead end, looking forward to a fresh spin on it. What i have seen so far pleases me.
I like the unreal engine. Cons:
different character with different personality, dont know if he can fill the shoes.
Capcom isnt directly making this game, therefore quality control is not garenteed to be up to speed.
