If I knew this was Heavenly Sword 2 and not Devil May Cry I would be very impressed.

No, I wouldn't be impressed.
I dislike the character concept, he looks way too much like a criminal delinquent (Yes, this was on purpose, I know. They succeeded in immediately starting a bad first impression on the character).
The combat looks slow compared to the competition.
Graphically it isn't as impressive as the bigger competitor titles.

I'd shrug, say "meh" and leave it alone.

No, for some reason it reminds me of Dante's Inferno.

Right now it looks to me like a decent budget title, the type you buy while you wait for the games you're really looking forward to.

You're not the first person I've heard say this, and honestly I don't get the comparison. Not to single you out or anything, I just really don't see that at all. Dante's Inferno is a drop dead ringer for God of War. Everything from the combat, to the art design, to the graphical engine, to the puzzle design, to the damn camera angles. Someone has to explain this to me... PLEASE!

Is it because he has a scythe as a weapon? Is that it?

It's closer that the aerial moves have a very... creepy resemblance to the aerial moves used in DI.

Hrm... I guess I can kinda see that. I really haven't played Dante's Inferno is like, a year so maybe I'm just forgetting. I should boot it up, I don't really have anything else to do. Yeah, I'm gonna play it tomorrow.

Air-to-ground scythe-whip move resembles Soul Crusher

Aerial ground-rake move resembles Diabolic Slash.

Pretty much.
I can't compare it myself as my PS3 is pretty much dead at this point, but back when it wasn't I could and I found the resemblance extremely creepy.
