just curious if orignal dantes story and character was not popular or something to the western market. I know he was well loved in the Asian market.

Dante is still the son of Sparda, Eva is still his mother, Mundus is still the King of the underworld, Dante is still packing his trademark weapons, and he has a brother called Vergil. Vergil is also highly intelligent and a master of the demonic arts while Dante is still a cocky and brash kid with a wicked sense of humor.
As for Dante having a makeover. He looks different and his personality changes in ever damn game. I really don't understand why complain about story, when the stories in those game were never great in the first place. You fans even said it yourself, "DMC has never been about story anyway." Why complain if a company decides to put a little thought into one. Some people just need to complain I guess. |

ABadNuffDudePosted 4/15/2012 11:20:55 AM | Just some changes off the top of my head: Dante's angel heritage, the way the demon world seems to work (use to be WAY harder to enter it now it pretty much works like Bayonetta's purgatory), knowing of Mundus and his connection to his mother's death at a much earlier age, Kat's existence and demon's control of the human world.
Also I wouldn't have any problem with story changes if they were actually good but unfortunately so far everything I've seen points to it basically being They Live but with demons instead of aliens and as NG3 has so painfully taught me it's better to have a minimal throwaway story that's just an excuse for you to keep moving forward if the alternative is bad anyway.
I dunno though I'm basing my opinion here off of short trailers and such so maybe the story will actually impress me in the end.
