Vitamin, I'm also looking forward to a fresh take on the character, but remember you're on Gamefaqs.

Well I'm a DMC vet, and ill say that I prefer new Dante. He's at least not saying things that make me facepalm my face till its numb. Dante was different in like every DMC. He was either too lame or too cheesy (or too serious for dmc2). People are just so attached to this fictional one dimensional character. I personally say "WHO CARES" I don't love the old Dante, it's a fictional non-existing character, why should I care what Capcom does with him?

Then don't care? Sorry bud, but the mass of fans didn't ask you "Will you care about this change with us"?

Most fans feel that they destroyed a legends when it wasn't needed. And liking Donte over Dante makes me worry about the new generation of kids.

Basically, what it tells me is this
*Donte*
Bad Attitude
Massive swearing
Do what I want, because I can, and if you don't like it, stop me
Drug looking appeal

wins over

*Dante*
Human attitude
Sarcastic
Never swears past "Hell"
As the power to stop Demons, and never forces that on people
Very clean looking, with body that fits the job of what he can do

you must not get out often, your average teenager is screwed up, my local middle school kids have what is called a "rainbow party" where all the girls wear different lipstick, suck the boys cack, then at the end they see which guys cack looks more rainbow, face it this next generation is done and that means the industry is gonna change to try and appeal to them

Lady showed a rebellious Dante that life isn't all about Pizza

Explain the scene in DMC4 when Dante, Lady and Trish are sitting in Devil May Cry.

Easily. He learned that life wasn't all about Pizza. It was also parts Money, Explosions, Pizza, and Sexy Ladies.

Pfft

*Sits in Dante's char*

I don't have any reason to justify my personal dislike of a character to anybody else.

Then don't post. I can't stand Donte, but I'm more then willing to give a reason as to WHY I don't like him.

Just saying "He's a Tool" and leaving it at that leaves room for people to berate you. If you if go into depth as to what he does, why he does it, how he looks, why he looks that way, etc, and touch every aspect possible, it gets people to go "Hmm. Let me rethink my opinion, and I'll come back to you with something more then "Your an idiot.".

Good on you for helping this guy out. Maybe someday, somewhere, someone will actually care about his ideals, and you can take credit.

For your other post, i think we will have to see alot more of the plot and character dynamics to really get anything out of this conversation. I see what it is that you liked about the old story and development, unfortunately those were things that kind of got me out of the immersion of the game. Granted its an action game and I could easily let that slide, but now I think i am excited at the notion that this new direction will round out the package for me and tie it into something that fits more into my original desires of the series direction. I like Dark edgy kinds of stories that dont hold back, I like the cussing, to me it gives emphasis when done tastefully, i'm looking forward to seeing the rest.

TC, I'm asking you.

What did you think of the removal of manual lock-on? Like it? Hate it? Used it much before in the older games?

Honestly it seems stupid to see how the person who seems to hate this game the most is actually one of the most active posters in this thread. lol.
If you care so much about this game, buy it. If you don't or actually hate it, leave it. Capcom doesn't force you to waste your money on their games.

Seriously, gamefaqs...

I hated it at first. I was constantly trying to do launchers using the old scheme. Its going to take a lot of time to get used to. So are the modifiers that switch the weapons. So is the new dodge mechanic.

What i do think that this game addressed very well. The ability for dante to seamlessly attack multiple enemies with no interruption. I always felt that it was an inherent problem in the other games. I would lock on, kill one, move on. The new mechanics lend themselves very well to creating some glorious looking battles, and Dante can easily and fluidly dispatch enemies based on efficiency now. I think thats going to open up so many more variables, now add on the weapon modifiers, add on the ricochet gun shot (which you can charge during a combo), add on the push or pull grapplers. I think this is going to be, by far, the deepest combat system seen to date. NT is taking some risks with the control scheme, it will need to be mastered for sure, but it is also necessary to provide those kinds of options.

Keep in mind that my personal reason for playing the game is to not waste a single movement, to make the battles cinematic, to make the combos so diverse, to fight flawlessly. Can't wait.
