New gameplay ( Virility Factory)

Whoa this looks awesome!! Best NT game ive seen. Love the new moves.

This maybe a DMC game after all in terms of combat.
But those enemies looks like canon fodder.

I really would like to give this game a chance.
I'm still calling this game Devil No Cry for the time being.

I'm surprised with the number of enemies on screen. I remember antis saying that you could fight against 3 enemies at the same time, because it's NT that was making the game.

Now suddenly I'm seeing 8 or 9 enemies against you...What happened, guys?

That's because people don't know the difference between frame-rate and RAM. The amount of enemies on screen never had anything to do with frame-rate.

The DmC Demo didn't hurt my butt, it just gave it a rash. The cure? Play Devil May Cry 1, 3, and 4.

Yes it does.

Ever played Dynasty Warriors?

DmC: Devil may Cry has 8 to 10 enemies on screen at a time.

Ever play Gears of War 2? 30 fps, 5 enemies on the field on a regular basis and at some points they had 15 to 30.

I could find more, but the point is that all FPS does is makes things smoother, more fluid, etc. Obviously if you have an fps of 15 your gonna have issues with more enemies but the fact is if you have that bad of fps, you've certainly got more problems under the hood than just a bad framerate. It's more complicated than this, but the fact is that FPS is only one of MANY factors that goes into determining how many enemies can be on screen at once.

"Frame rates in video games refer to the speed at which the image is refreshed (typically in frames per second, or FPS). Many underlying processes, such as collision detection and network processing, run at different or inconsistent frequencies or in different physical components of a computer. FPS affect the experience in two ways: low FPS does not give the illusion of motion effectively and affects the user's capacity to interact with the game, while FPS that vary substantially from one second to the next depending on computational load produce uneven, “choppy” movement or animation. Many games lock their frame rate at lower but more sustainable levels to give consistently smooth motion."

Again, the frame rate is why DmC is no where near as fluid as DMC... but it has nothing to do with how many enemies are on screen.

I'm saying that more enemies will slow down the game literally. Both CPU and GPU affects this, so does RAM. So yeah, graphics affects fps obviously. Try spawning 10 enemies at once on the first stage of DmC and you WILL get lag, as in lower frames per second.

Again, like you just admitted, there are multiple factors playing into it.

Also, Bayonetta in the intro dropped as low as 44fps, had an average of 51.05 fps, had as much as 61.6% screen tearing at one point, and had an average of 25.50% screen tearing. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9xIfNMWXVw) on the Xbox 360. Here's another analysis: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Po7IFIcTHY4&list=UL. Don't even get me started on the PS3 port.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengence? It barely ever reaches 60fps, drops as low as 36.5 fps, has certain amounts of screen tearing, averages below 60 fps... and this is just against a single enemy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yRrjYwwHAM). The 360 version? While the framerate is still better, it still is sub 60 fps on average and has really bad screen tearing.

DmC on the 360? Locked at 30 fps, never drops below 29.5 fps, has minimal screen tearing... and this is against a Boss (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdrjK_afvb4)

Platinum Games is not perfect. Actually, compared to DmC, the performances of Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising: Revengence are down right inconsistent (laughably so).

Here are some other action titles:

Darksiders (Demo): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dMTzy4OcNU&list=UL

Darksiders (Retail): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcJVs7UhYsQ&list=UL

God of War 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gScLggn41_w&list=UL

God of War 3 (high amount of enemies): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7uc9tPZ8-Y&list=UL

I could go on. The fact is that the DmC demo for at least the 360 runs much more stably than what are considered to be the "best of the hack n' slash/action genre"'s RETAIL versions. DmC is solid. It doesn't matter if you want to admit that or not.

When was I talking about DmC? I was talking about the relation between enemies on screen and fps in videogames in general. I don't want to start another argument about how game A's this is better than game B's this etc...

There's not a whole lot happening in that DmC boss video so it's not very surprising that the frame rate stays consistent.

I think everyone here is comparing DmC's 30fps feel to dmc1-dmc4's.
But i understand how you want to defend and praise DmC by comparing it to today's hack n slash games
