They are catering towards casuals cause they want more people to just pick up the game and go.
This has been a 6-7 year practice this generation amongst a majority of the gaming industry.
Its far too late to be complaining about casuals.
Casuals buy games :/

It's never too late to complain about casuals. That's like saying that it's too late to complain about cancer.

Well for me, Hell & Hell Mode's a moot point anyway. I doubt I'll ever get to that difficulty. But c'mon, beat the entire game without taking one hit? That seems like a pretty tall order. I mean, I'm sure that within a week of the game coming out, SOMEONE'S going to do it. That just sure as hell won't be me lol.

It doesn't look like it'll be that hard if they do things the same way as 4. The enemies are pretty tame on SoS mode and upgrades will make it really easy.

Eh, I guess it's just personal experience. I was a little confounded playing SoS mode the first time. I did have fun with the Ice Knight and Flame Knight combo. I liked the demo.

I guess I'm considered a casual gamer though.

What's up with everyone and the word "casual" nowadays ? The words get thrown in every gaming community, and to my horror, there is even a "Casual" Pokemon player and a "Hardcore" one !!! Did people go crazy ? Since when people play video games to show off ?

I especially loath the people who speaks about casuals as if they were some kind of a sub-species, with the hardcore being the demographic that matters the most when it comes to making video games. Companies have the right to cater for any demographic as they see fit. Only a spoiled child who thinks that the world revolves around him would think otherwise.

I thought that the whole "casual" thing started between fighting games communities, but the problem is spreading. It mostly comes from people who watched a few combo videos on youtube, and started calling themselves "hardcore" just to feel better about their lives.

For the "hardcore" people, games are meant to be played by everyone. You people do not own DMC, and therefor have no right to decide who should play the game or who shouldn't. You don't agree with the direction that Capcom are taking the series to ? Then that's a problem between you and Capcom. I hate the new direction of the series too, but you don't see me whining about it.

Bottom line is, you people really need to grow up. Reading some of the comments from the "hardcore" people can be vomit-inducing sometimes. Just because Capcom are experimenting with the series, doesn't mean that you won't get you precious DMC5 one day.

Yeah, we're only the people that fund the series.

We made DMC where it is today and we dont like the direction where its headed.
We paid and played through dmc1 to dmc4.
We have every right to complain aboutt this one as they are using OUR money to create the next DMC game.

Clearly not enough of you do or else Capcom wouldnt have felt the need for a reboot.
Capcom wanted more money and wanted to open the game up to a wider audience.
Clearly appealing to the one same crowd time and time again didn't pull in enough revenue.
