Japan in general has spent a lot of the last two-hundred years getting bullied by Western nations demanding they "Westernize" themselves. Heck an article Cracked put up just how many things we consider "weird" in Japan were due to Western influence:
Twilight Princess was an attempt to appeal to Westerners.
That was more of an attempt to appeal to the fans that think OoT is the greatest Zelda game.
Apparently, when starting a Zelda project, they choose an art style and build around that which is ass backwards. From what I've read, they chose the style for TP because they felt it would appeal to Westerners more. Why else would Miyamoto do it when he clearly dislikes the real is brown look as shown in Paper Mario?
Also, almost all modern Zelda games are made to appeal to the crowed that thinks OoT is the best and most faithful Zelda game ever. So we're both right. --- Gamers have lost their pride. Complacency can be a sin.
