I'm sorry...no they didn't.
The original DMC team has either left Capcom and are now part of Platinum or are busy with Dragons Dogma DLC and Dragons Dogma 2.


Their was some advice given, but it was by no means collaboration.

After I posted I started thinking about the small amount of the team that didn't leave or go to the DD team helped but I wouldn't say that counts for the entirety of the original DMC team.

In one of the earlier interviews Alex Jones and Tameem watched each other and chuckled at the mention of white hair. But yeah, overall it's a bit overblown.

Moving on; The controls I feel aren't too bad at all. It feels (And yes I feel I'm probably the minority here) somewhat organic almost. It's a little weird to wrap your head around but once you do it flows well.


Controls are probably the thing I hate the most in DmC. Not because they are completely terrible or the game is unplayable because of them, But they are objectively worse than the old ones for no other reason than to put the Heavenly Sword thing of holding the shoulder buttons. And what's the official reason for the control scheme? Emphatizing the whole Angel/Demon BS. Putting story before gameplay, way to go.

Guns are far from useless. For juggling, staggering, canceling, laying down light damage, keeping you suspended, allowing you to keep an enemy a relative height in the air in order to execute a follow up. Their base damage of their standard fire has been reduced a decent degree, but useless; far from.


Guns are bad. They are weak, don't flow very well with the melee combat (look how little they are used in all the gameplay videos released so far), charging them is problematic since they double as whip command and the Rainstorms are sloooooooooow.

Btw the city wont take SEVERAL minutes to kill you; It's not as fast as it could be, but I'd say 2- to 30 seconds of standing around is a more realistic statement.


You have to basically do it on purpose. In the church scene you have enough time that you can walk from start to finish instead of running.

This is *ONE* thing.
They called the Antis sheep, said that they secretly want to buy it, etc.
It does *NOT* sit well with me and I feel like I've been personally offended with those statements. They should simply have said "They should give us a chance" instead of slamming into the ground. Most unprofessional.

I can safely say that this game features the worst standard controls I ever had and this includes keyboard only "before mouse aiming era" shooters like Duke Nukem 3D.

Guns are far from useless.
They deal next to no damage, the stun is short when you could just as well pull them, keeping yourself suspended is far easier without the guns (Just whack an enemy on the head, or pull him towards you) and it's not like you can't juggle enemies with your melee in a much more efficient way.
To me, they are utterly useless.

The Demon Dodge + Arbiter pause combo (Trinity Smash?) could definitely use a nerf.
SSS from one attack should NEVER be possible. Seriously.

The Style system did something similar in DMC4; It wouldnt decay up until you reached S I believe; then it began to drop as in DMC3. Though admittedly it's become even more forgiving in that none of the ranks expire. Meaning once you his SSS; you're there till you take a hit; no matter what you do. I feel the ranking system should be harder on death; I agree with Strelok there too.

In some places the city doesn't even crush you at all though.
And then to think I was actually looking forward to "moving arenas" but alas, that was likely beyond their programming abilities. It was one of the potential things that could have interested me.

Aiming the camera toward the enemy you want to grab helps A LOT. I'm honestly pretty impressed by how well it can work. Doesn't mean it doesn't get wonky but this may be one of the best auto locks I've ever used.
I don't like moving the camera around when I'm in the midst of combat.
Of course one could argue that because the enemies take so long to enter attack mode (Seriously, some just stand around, the Resident Evil 1 zombies were more active than that!) that you ahve enough time to stand still, move the camera to the enemy at your leisure and perform the move, but meh.
I would simply have preferred a lockon. It's not like we are short of redundantly used buttons.

Yeah ok, this game is clearly the best DmC ever. The dev's did nothing wrong and everyone that has ANY complaints or negative feedback simply is blinded by their nostalgia glasses.


You're being as narrow minded as people saying it sucks purely out of nostalgia with that statement.


as for my two cents, what seems to have happened is that when they decided to reboot the series they focused all their attention on gaining a new audience and left the old one in the dust. Which is why, in my opinion all of the complaints from fans saying they don't like it because it's not "original" Devil may cry are completely valid, the dev's basically went ahead and said **** em.

Sorry, but the reward for worst controls in a game ever will always go to eternal ring on the PS2 that didn't support the right analogue stick...

So TC wasn't really interested in learning and understanding an opposing view point. All he really wanted was to those who disagree with him.
