The game is bad(by DMC standards) because NT wanted to put more emphasis on air combat so now the already linear combat because even more linear when you are encouraged and rewarded for staying the air for eternity like damn cloud. It also doesn't help that with their heavenly sword control scheme that we lost inputs for other moves.

Never will DmC look like this.

DmC gameplay lacks a couple of things.

-One thing that is incredibly obvious is the feeling of impact. Whether it is the sound of a move hitting, recalling back of an enemy, the shaking of the screen, it is all clearly absent so when you strike something it doesn't feel powerful.

-There is clearly a step down in speed. Due to the game running at 30FPS you can see that to have more detailed animations the moves must be slower as the faster the move gets the fewer frames it has to work with. You can see this really clearly in isedelica video when she jump cancels.

-The areas you fight in are too big. This was a problem that existed in DMC2 which is one of the reasons it sucked so bad. The stages are too large and flowing from enemy to enemy and fighting off a group of them doesn't work well.

-The game is too focused on fighting ONE character at a time rather than a bunch at once. You can see in all the videos for the most part, that DmC is all about picking of a single enemy, taking them into the sky(alone) and keeping them there and comboing them. This can be seen in lots of gameplay vids too. This sectioning of a fighting one character at a time. It again really ruins the dynamic flow of DMC games switching from fighting one character to another.

-The gameplay in general is just a step back, from the move selection, to the combo system, it just doesn't work as well. Everything feels like another game really, not like Devil May Cry.

There are many reasons why the game is meh. People that want to support it can but I'd rather not in hopes that this is a one and done and not the start of a new trend for DMC games.

Crazy idea.

Why don't we wait until the best players make vids of the full game with all the moves and weapons unlocked before we decide how bad it sucks.

Do Trickster DMC3 videos suck because the players don't have the Swordmaster and Gunslinger moves available?

Also the weapons in the demo already have all the moves unlocked, they are missing only the damage upgrades.

lol That's DEFINITLY NOT how I played DMC, I mean those guys developped godlike skills at it and it's beautiful.

But honestly that's not the kind of vids that'd make me buy DMC3 if I never played it, especially in 2012.

Doesn't really matter if a "master" can't do what she could in other DMC's, what matters is what you find fun. I played DMC4 and I'm halfway in SoS, and I do not jump-cancel, snatch-cancel, switch styles every second nor switch weapons every second because I have a certain perspective of how I find myself playing for fun, I don't find a need to SSS every damn mission. Point is, don't let your view of the game be subjected by other people's opinions

It's not how I play DMC either (not even sure if I know how to jump cancel), but the freedom in that game makes combat so much fun. ^_^

I don't have to be godlike to enjoy playing around with it.

For all the claim of the game being grittier, darker and edgier, you are right that it lacks impact. Sure the environments are much better, but they could have done much more musical integration and sound effects. Sure the dubstep and the wubwubwubs are a nice touch, but it really could use more of it as you progress in your fights than playing it for the simplistic approach to bosses.

Speed is subjective since many who argued as well apparently don't play enough 60fps games and will lie through their teeth about not being able to see the difference between unstable 30fps (what DmC is), stable 30fps (what others are) and stable 60fps (DMC, God of War). However it is very evident despite the slow gameplay and their mish mash of mechanics that trying exploit the mechanics to have it 'play' faster doesn't work. And doesn't look as smooth either. Maybe the PC version.

The level design is alright but yeah, the enemy placement as what is seen in the demo (and it won't change per what Tameem has said about that) is really off putting. Which also decreases the feel of Dante being 'in the fight of his life' that NT is trying pull out of their butts. Also with the 'slower' pace of the game, you would have to be a total casual to not be able to dodge the lengthy telegraphing of enemies with THREE dodging options (one really being the most efficient).

And your reasons of the game looking like one on one as opposed to advanced crowd controls is simple: no lock on. NT didn't design the game to be a mob rusher. A call back to heavenly sword where you take on one guy and have other moves in your disposal to get other guys in your AoE. Which why I'm not surprised of seeing the combo videos and gameplays have usually beating on one monster.

Because there isn't much depth with the basic mechanics to begin with in DmC. Pro DMC player with Aquila? HUEHUEHUEHUEHUE!
Brea's videos were to see how she can break the mechanics, as oppose to it being a aesthetically pleasing combo video of the game. Can't blame an old school DMC player applying her knowledge to the new DmC and finding out that the game doesn't offer much depth at all gameplay wise.

.....are we really ranking how good people are at single player games now? Are you people so pathetic that you need to hold freaking single player gamers on a pedestal and worship them? It's bad enough you people do it with "pro" gamers, this is just a new level of sad. Sometimes, I really, really hate sharing a hobby with you people.
