This game's title is so wrong in so many ways

They are actually vastly different attempts at humor.
The only thing they really have in common is that there's a bit of foul language present.

IT's foul language/acting for the sake of itself, It's not funny, and when TRIES to joke (dragged on forever) it's just forced and boring. So far I haven't seen a single good line in all cutscenes I saw.

In one scene where Dante said F*** you; once.
The only one who went overboard with it is Poison; and that seemed to be her characters shtick. Other characters cuss, but it's within a justifiable level.

The Church line is about as clever as anything the old Dante ever said.

He f*** also during gameplay. I heard it in yesterday's level 1 walkthrough. Also all demons in this game swearing. All, starting with Poison and ending wit Mundus.
But Church remark is just has zero originality for me. Like I said I need to find a single good written character in whole game yet. So far they are all cliche and boring or just atrocious.

If DmC feels that way to you DMC and Bayo must have been just horrifying ;D
It's 6am here; I'm tired so I;ll leave it at this.

If we're the ones getting our feathers all ruffled and becoming fixated on nothing but the cursing. Aren't we the ones being immature?

"How about I take you out for a walk."
Congratulations Dante; you've noticed Cerberus is a dog.
The church line is at least a double entendre.

Are you really gonna pretend that the swearing and bad writing and characterization is better than that of the original DMC series? Really?

How about you play through DMC3 and look at Dante, Lady and Vergil develop. A lot of people don't give DMC3 the credit it deserves when it comes to its plot and characters.
Note how DMC3 manages to maintain a serious story while having a few fun and silly moments in between the more serious segments. The thing is, the gameplay in DMC3 is excellent and definitely the part everyone comes back to, but it's not the only thing carrying the game forward, at least not in every playthrough.
I'd explain each character's development to you and why they're not cliché, but chances are you'd just brush it off reciting some pre-boss battle dialogue and describing the over-the-top cutscene action from DMC3, call Dante an anime stereotype and call it a day. So I won't bother.

See, if anything DmC is cliché because the whole "Corrupt, oppressive government" thing has been done a million times already. See 1984, Dark City, Deus Ex, MGS2, etc. And while these books/films/games handled the subject in a tasteful manner, DmC doesn't.
Instead it throws a thousand curse words at everything and everyone, calls the government/banks a bunch of demons and acts as though it's making a point. It's like the game's plot came from the mind of a 15-year-old who just heard about the Occupy movement and talks about it on Facebook or Twitter thinking he's helping a cause even though he's just doing it to feed his self-importance.

I had no idea why I was protecting a child half the time. Like... I'm still not sure why there was any relevance tied in with her, it just seemed extremely forced and detracted from the game IMO.

Bayonetta is told by the Mysterious Disembodied Voice to protect Cereza, stating that she is the key to her memories (or something; I was kinda busy ogling Bayo at the time). Given that Bayo is after her lost memories, she complies. As for why Cereza is in such a place, it was so she could meet Bayonetta, her older self kicking ass, so she could be her own role model, also awakening Bayo's memories and power in the process. No, it's not a good story, but they explain it all, at least.

Also, that bit about Jeanne was hastily typed and really should have been "that's obvious, given her role". >_<
