I actually preferred DMC1 Dante than every Dante that came after

I've passed DMC1 recently in the DMC HD collection and I gotta say... I havent beaten dmc1 for like 4 years, but wow, this game reminds me why I prefer this Dante the most. He's not too cocky, he cares, he's badass and he's actually very human. After the first Nelo Angelo fight, Dante was struggling for his life when Vergil grabbed him by the neck. It hits me again after the final fight with Griffon, and Dante actually says to him "You can't fight with that wound" It's hard to imagine modern Dante to be like that. Observing other cutscenes more closely, Dante actually can feel shocked, serious, feel like he's in actual danger of his life... you know, HUMAN. And maybe that's why I care for him in this game. (Kinda like how people cares for snake in metal gear) The modern Dante that everyone loves seems invincible, light hearted, and super cocky. You know, like everyone's hero. He's the guy everyone looks up to. But the first Dante... to me, he's the one I wish Capcom would return to. I know dmc1 is pretty damn cheesy in terms of story, (i shouldve been the one to fill you dark soul with light etc etc) But if they can bring back that Dante, the feel of DMC1, a better story, the gothic and demonic atmosphere, the "horror" sub genre back in DMC, then I would actually forgive Capcom. I know I may be the only one in this board who prefers dmc1 Dante, but damn... that guy is like a hero to me. --- Psn: Squigi Live: oOSquigiOo squigi.deviantart.com
The thing is that Dante killed his only threat. Their is no need to be serious cause he can't die.... --- *Hops on Sony Pony.* Onward my loyal legion of Nintendrones and Xbots! Ahh! My ding ding dong!
I like that DMC1 Dante was often concerned as well. Seems that protagonists do that less in general nowadays. --- My Resident Evil 6 Review| My XCOM: Enemy Unknown Review http://bitly.com/Z2CT6n | http://bit.ly/RJGjrn
He got serious because he was taking on the demons that killed his mom. --- PSN: OceanSupermarket
I like DMC1 Dante equally as much as DMC3 Dante. DMC3 Dante really felt like a younger, cockier version of DMC1 Dante. The other 2 were okay, but they just didn't feel like the same character (DMC4 Dante felt like DMC3 Dante, but seemed to ignore DMC1 Dante a bit). All in all, I feel the connection between DMC1 and 3 Dante was really great. They're both great characters... and they're the same so.... huh.... --- [INSERT SIGNATURE HERE]

And although I love the model and design for dmc2 Dante, that personality is terribad. --- Psn: Squigi Live: oOSquigiOo squigi.deviantart.com

Well if you've observed in the past decades, and watched movies and tv shows... the "anti-hero" is entertainment's preferred character type --- Psn: Squigi Live: oOSquigiOo squigi.deviantart.com

I miss good old protagonists who would just try doing the best for non-selfish reasons. No offence to Kamiya (The guy who made DMC1 Dante) But Dante in that game was not awesome or badass at all, He was a good character afterall. And Kamiya isn't that good at making characters personalities and story lines, DMC1 and Bayonetta are prime examples for that. I always find DMC3 and DMC4 Dante are the best. They have cheesy lines, badass personality and awesome look. They were literally perfect. Thanks to Itsuno and his team after developing DMC3 and DMC4. And those two guys had the best Dante,Best story,Best combat system I ever saw in any action game. And whenever someone compares Dino to old Dante, They always use DMC3-4 Dante in the comparison, Which means DMC3-4 Dante was always the best. Itsuno's Dante > Kamiya's Dante |
