You never had to do advanced combos at any point in any DMC. You never had to jump cancel.

You are implying that DmC requires you to jump cancel. Please tell me where DmC requires you to jump cancel.

If this is not what you are implying, please clarify and explain why you felt it was necessary to point out that DMC doesn't require you to jump cancel if it is not relevant to your point.

I didn't say jump cancels are required in DmC. I was saying they were never necessary in the old games like the other guy implied.

Fair enough, then it was a misunderstanding on my part.

Easy to get into, hard to master....

I don't see what the big issue is

I'm starting to think that they made this game to get the casual gamers in the series. And if you think about it.. Once they announce DMC5, Both of the pro and casual gamers will be looking forward it.

And that's a good thing, isn't it ?

Sure, its just that announcing DMC5 is extremely unlikely.

Why would Capcom want DMC5 to compete with DmC? They are already investing a comic and a movie to DmC.

I think the idea of crutching the weak is poor design in the long run. Casual gamers are just that; casual. This video game fad will eventually crash in regards to casuals as they will eventually get tired of gaming and the industry will be even more out of touch with the "hardcore" gamer.

What I hate is that "hardcore" gamers are regarded similar to drug addicts; were in to deep to not play games and end up getting them anyway, like an addict who keeps saying they'll quit until they run out then re-up.

The casuals are the target audience because they are the sales that actually need to be captured as majority of hardcore gamers have their backs to the wall fighting to retain an enjoyable hobby that has been watered down so much games now complete themselves or walk you through without any thought process.

I think crutching is the problem with societies nowadays as everyone is looking for something for nothing.

Correction, I said JC's are required for the insane combos

Go back and read what I said, then try again.

the problem is the old games were easy to get into but hard to master. but this game is catering to people who want to do all these mad combos but lazy to practice to get the satisfaction of achieving those combos (kinda like most of games these days)

But, ultimately, the franchise needs that new blood to be interested in future games and stay for the long term. Many of you will argue that the "casuals" picking this game up won't stay on board, but who's to say? Capcom has to widen out and develop new blood if they want to see DMC continue on and be profitable, especially with the industry changing the way it is.

I am fine with reaching out to casuals, the problem is when they do it at the expense of the established fans.

which to this day, i never understand how hard to do that (that apply to every franchise that watered down to appeal to the casuals)

So the point of this game was to bring new players to the series?

I think the point was to try to capture the magic of DMC1. Everything about that game was top notch. The combat was actually one of that game's weak points but it didn't matter because everything else about the game made it a joy to go through. Every aspect of it was very well-designed. The presentation was it's strongest point. I feel that while the later games may have made combat deeper, they lost much of what made the original DMC so great. I feel like they went to a western developer because we were the ones who liked the game the most. America and Europe are the largest consumers of DMC. NT experienced the games as players and they were part of the group that DMC was most well-received. I think they have a better understanding of what made DMC good than Itsuno did. I think that's why NT is an acceptable choice. While their games may not have the deepest combat, they're one of the few companies who can make a game that keeps you moving along on presentation alone. DMC was about getting from point A to point B, not combat. Everything about the design made you want to keep playing to see what happens next. DMC1 is still the most critically acclaimed DMC and I think Capcom wanted to get back to that status or at least try.

Maybe ur overthinking but Capcom intended this game to appeal and catch the casual COD/GoW audience. Someone posted an article a while back where Capcom decided to experiment on the franchise becuz they thought DMC4 reached the high point in the franchise. They said they knew/want to make a DMC5 but they want to experiment and take a shot at the COD/GoW fanbase....
essentially this reboot is pure moneygrabbing mentality...just my thoughts ur feel to think watever u want....
