Eh, careful. Britain is still technically Western as far as Asian cultures are concerned.
I've never liked the whole "west vs east" thing. It's such a cold war mentality and so many people misuse the bloody thing.
Think on this: Technically speaking Asia is West of you. When you're a sphere floating out in space, it's laughable when people start trying to claim what's top and bottom.
It's such a North American issue. The rest of the world doesn't much care.
The whole British element doesn't surprise me at all, I always figured from the architecture that Dante lived in the United Kingdom.
I found the vacant city a bit disturbing actually, I was quite pleased when the anime populated Dante's neighbourhood and tried to show the man as a citizen.
