So I'm not the only one who notices that DMC1 has aged pretty badly?
I wouldn't say it aged badly. Hell I played the PAL version recently again and it's still very fun and atmospheric. It's just not a huge cuhrayzee loud crowd control festival like DMC3. It's a bit more subtle than that. It also runs at what seems to be half the speed of the NTSC version so it's like in slow-motion.
Gameplay, specifically combat, is the major thing to me. DMC1, while excelling in other areas, doesn't have the best combat and 3 and 4 are still really fun to play. --- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E29iOPSxF94&feature=fvw
DMC 1 - The best to me. DMC 3 - Close second. DMC 4 - Interesting enough. I also liked two playable characters. DmC - Good solid game but not DMC. DMC 2. - Only thing I liked about this game was Lucia and her devil trigger. Dat white angel looking demon. --- One who knows nothing can understand nothing - GamerTag: wwinterj/PSN wwinterj
I almost agree with TC but I think I'd rate the new DmC slightly better then DmC1 so it would be:
DmC3 > DmC > DmC1 > DmC4 > DmC2
Very much the same imo, DmC1 aged quite a bit more than others. I really think the hysterical hates are a bit too OOT, but yes see some fair point re frustration about 30 fps, easier difficulty (harder modes in there) and so on. Despite those quibbles, still a fairly well realised and entertaining game.
If Capcom had only asked Ninja Theory to do DmC only on X720, PS4 and PC at full 60 fps plus go full on with the limbo transitions, deformations, then it will argue even more forcefully the idea of the reboot.
