VGChartz isn't a very good source, though I'd bet they aren't far off the mark in this case.

According to business analyst Michael Pachter who pays lots of money to get actual sales figure, he claims vgchartz is good enough of a source.

What a shame if this is accurate.

The best dmc outside of 3 performs so poorly, and crappy rehashes like the cod series smash 10 million + every year...

Vanquish, Bayonetta, Okami, all sold poorly. I guess now low sales = bad game that cant be enjoyed?

Bayonetta didn't sell poorly. It sold enough to make a bit of money, but not enough to rush a sequel. Okami didn't sell poorly either. It sold slowly and Capcom decided to shut down Clover Studio only to regret it later after the game finally sold well a year later.

Source?

First week numbers for all territories:

North America: 180,000 (49% of total)
Europe: 40,000 (12% of total)
Japan: 110,000 (31% of total)
Everywhere else: 30,000 (8% of total)

TOTAL UNITS = 360,000

NA numbers are in line with general expectations based on the sales of Japan and Europe we already knew before. This is not surprising. Perhaps they're even a bit lower.

Refresh me though, the game sold 120k copies is the UK,which is a single country in Europe. Yet Europe is at 40.000 here? Yea, sound legit.

They didn't even have the resources to animate all the cutscenes, I really don't think it made any money, all things considered.

Lol good point.

DmC did indeed sell 120k+ in the UK alone.

I heard it broke 300k in Japan

You're right. I thought it was strange when I was typing that number.
In any case these numbers shouldn't be seen as entirely accurate. I only posted it because this is the first NA sales figure that has come up at all.

VGchartz is an awful source and is accurate once in a blue moon.

Er, scratch that. UK sales alone should have been about 67,000 (1/3 of DMC4's 200,000) so that's not 120,000 for the first week.

Japan first week is more or less accurate at 110-120,000 for the first week.
