Yes, according to this game; they are.
This is a terrible fact that completely takes away from the tension that should be between Dante and Vergil. However you wanna interpret "blood brothers;" that broken relationship has to many similarities with Dante and Vergils relatonship that it undercuts the impact of Two brothers fighting against each other.
The first 14 chapters were not to bad and had me going but after I finished the game, the last 5 or 6 chapters ruined a lot of what I thought was actually pretty decent.
But if Sparda and Mundus were in fact actual brothers then that would add quite a bit to the story.
It would have meant that Mundus was trying to kill his nephew(s) and that Vergil killed his baby cousin.
It also would have meant that the ending between Dante and Vergil kind of mirrored what happened between Sparda and Mundus: one "brother" betraying another
Exactly, all that within this universe takes away from the originality of what Dante and Vergils relationship is. Having all those close connections and similarities between generational relationships takes away from the uniqueness of Dante and Vergil. it comes off as more of the same rather than something meaningful.
If you have not, please play DMC3, the weight of the beginning carries is more impact than all of DmC; my opinion.
DMC3 was the first DMC i ever played.
and i'm sorry but i really have to disagree with you about the DMC3 having more impact then this game. It was a damn good game but from i recall, the vast majority of it was like one of those high octane thrill ride action movies (Like Shoot 'Em Up)
the plot was only there so you'll move from one fight to another.
DmC on the other hand, suffers from having a great plot but poor execution.
It did have a Shakespearean story (which i'll go into detail about in another thread) but it was hidden under all the bad dialogue
