Why is this game so much ugglier then DMC4?

I'm confused, the game is good... but why would they license a new engine to make an ugglier game then a game they made years ago on their own in-house engine?

And I don't just mean a little ugglier btw, it's actually rather shocking how much worse it looks...

I really don't understand why everyone says DMC4 is so gorgeous graphically.

When the screen wasn't just a huge blur of one color palette it looked decent, but never amazed me.

I agree. If you thought DmC was ugly compared to 4, play 4 on a pc. It makes DmC look even uglier.

DmC. The difference for DMC4 from console to PC isn't significant, but DmC's is literally night and day. It goes from being a hideous, visually offensive train wreck to one of the better looking games on Unreal 3.

I'd imagine it's for one of two reasons:

1. Capcom didn't want outsiders using their engine
2. NT were allowed but didn't want to either because they were more comfortable on Unreal or they thought there was little point in learning a new engine they would never be allowed to use again.
