Would anyone care if DMC5 ends up being another prequel?

Once again, Nero has no backstory.

>Descendant of Sparda.
>Vergil's Angelo soul getting into his arm.
>The extent of his connection to Vergil.

It was there slightly, just wasn't fleshed out well enough. You had to pay attention.
Wrap it up and flesh it out in the next game so more people aren't scratching their heads about Nero.

I'd rather the origins of an character not drag out for too long. That's why I said I think they should finish it.

Nero's been on that island for most of his life and he's lived with Kyrie from a very young age. The Order clearly didn't know who or what Nero was when he moved with Cerdo and his sister. Really there's no room for him to be a clone or anything like that unless Vergil's soul traveled thru time.

This second point was explained already.

Crap, I just realized he was raised in Fortuna from childhood and Nelo Angelo died just a year prior to DMC4... Where exactly was that stated again anyway?

I guess that means the whole clone business is out of the way.

But then again, IIRC, the only time they stated that DMC4 was directly a year after DMC1 was in one conference by the Voice Actors, they could easily fix that and make it so DMC4 takes place 5 years after DMC1. Dante would be 33, Nero 18, and it wouldn't be so unimaginable to have Vergil father a kid.

They stated it in a few interviews and by saying it takes place 10 years after DMC3. If DMC3 is 11 years after the attack and DMC1 is 20 that means that there's 9 years between them. 10-9=1 so there.

Welp, Capcom right screwed themselves into a corner on this one, no way to get out of this without turning the plot stupid or disregarding previous statements.

My first choice would be a DMC where Nero gets his backstory full revealed. How he is connected to Sparda ( i would rather him be Sparda's bastard child) and why he works so well with the Yamato and all that. Dante facing an opponent of equal skill would be fun, make Dante act serious for a little bit and go all out.....have Nero get one shotted by this bad guy to, not killed, just taken out instantly.

Other than that i would like a Sparda game. Make it start at the time Sparda was a demon, and have him serve Mundus as a high ranking demon or General. He would have the Rebellion,Force Edge and Yamato to start with. Eventually the game would lead up him defeating Mundus and sealing the Demon world with the Temnigru. They could have old enemies coming back as allies and later bosses. Phantom and Griffin could be there at the start and fought when you are going for Mundus. Nevan and Beowulf could be around as well, since they seemed to know Sparda. Have the game flesh out Sparda's relationship with Eva. Also could include a bit about Lady's mother. Have the game end with Dante and Vergil being born, or with them as children.

It would bother me. I'd like for them to just continue with a new part of the story or something. At this point they've fleshed out some of Dante's beginnings so it would be fun to continue to see how he grows stronger, etc.

Part of me would like a game based around Vergil's life (and even Sparda though I doubt they'd bother with that, Vergil's story is more likely I think). And then there's Nero. You learn next to nothing about him in DMC 4 as to his past or how he even got the devil bringer or why yamato has an affinity for him. I kind of want to know more about him..but not at the expense of having another game NOT focused on Dante =\

Then again, they can still say that Nero is a failed clone of Vergil. The Order of The Sword could have captured Vergil after his mom died and he was on his own, then attempt to clone him when he was 10, which would have failed and just made (what seemed like) a normal human baby. They then try to kill Vergil, whose demonic power awakens and he escapes. They then put Nero in the care of Kyrie and Credo's family, so they can keep a close eye on his development. Sounds like the only way I can think of without involving possession/ reincarnation/ inherited will, which, no offense to anyone who theorizes that, just sounds stupid.
