Tell me about games that have a deeper storyline than DmC. [spoilers ahead]

Topdrunkee, I know you're trying to sound serious with your list of games you probably googled "good japanese games with good stories" to get(Other than the MGS2 one, that was obviously you), but if you want to be taken any degree of serious, you should definitely not call a game "ASS EFFECT" or insult the company to sound cool or edgy. It just ruins any credibility in your argument and makes you look like you can't properly spell the names of games.

Red Dead Redemption is a great game with a great story. Not every story has to have some deep meaning. Stories can be simple and have themes that are shown and given directly to the player, and it could still be a great story. But I'm sure you're going to retort by insulting my intelligence, or accuse me of not understanding the deep stories of japanese or other games that have deep stories. That's cool, though. Stories are meant to be interpreted in many different ways, some are meant for different audiences than others.

Better than DmC:
To many to list but here are a few.

- Kingdom Hearts
- Metal Gear Solid
- Final Fantasy X and VII
- The original Devil May Cry series
- Uncharted series
- GTA Vice City, San Andreas and IV
- Red Dead Redemption
- God of War series
- Batman Arkham Asylum/city

That's all I can think of for now. Hack and slash games are not the games you play for a deep, meaningful story you play them for gameplay I absolutely agree the problem here is the gameplay is mediocre and adding that to a rubbish story makes me loose interest in the game very, very quick.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2

The second I saw this in your list, my eyes widened.

NGS2 has a better story than DmC? NGS2?

That game doesn't have a story. It throws out a MacGuffin as an excuse for Ryu to globe-trot and kill a bunch of demons.

I love it, of course. But let's be real here.

Which makes it even sadder that it has a better story than DmC.

Also, great post by Topdrunkee. Really captures my thoughts on the retarded, popular "Japanese = bad story/writing, Western = glorious Shakespearian writing, ART" attitude of this gen.
