Starting to remind me of jean reno in onimusha3... I'm down. Then one of the ladies would make a joke about all his weapons being extendable.

Jacques was the first thing I thought of when I read the OP >.>

Maybe a Lance? I have a hard time figuring out a moveset for it, but it could work.

A rapier? Some high speed poking attacks could be cool.

I could see him having a lance... if it also created a horse for charging attacks... dude if dmc5 had wide open battle environments a la dynasty warriors giant killing fields? Hell yes. Rapiers are fun. Hmm. What about some kind of gravity weapon that messed around with the laws of physics. Not obeying conservation of momentum and such.

Maybe the Lance could get a DT ability like Air Raid where a horse is summoned and you charge around with it :D

Mix those abilities you said with the rapier. Maybe give it some Darkslayer-ish evasive moves too. A mix of DS and Royal Guard could give it an interesting moveset, add your ideas and we might have the sexiest Devil Arm ever.

It'd be kind of awkward since I imagine it would conflict with "Royal Guard".... IF it had the obvious defensive moves.
