Anyone else feel the positive reviews were warranted?

I only played DMC 1, but this game was waaaay better than that IMO. I love the platforming so much more than the puzzles and stuff in DMC 1.

I prefer the new Dante. I like how the combat is easy to do. I own this on 360 so I cannot comment on how it runs on PS3, but smoothly on the 360.

This is one of the best action games I've played this gen. I just wish it were longer.

Opinions?

No. If you've only played DMC1, then you also need to go and play DMC3 and DMC4 to see what the anti's are on about. I promise you that 3 & 4 will be FAR deeper and intriguing than this abomination. I'm sorry, but you do not take an established formula that has had success, dumb it down, distill it and try to pass it off as an "improvement" on the older games. It just doesn't work.

Positive reviews are warranted, but to the degree that the game got em, not so much.

Alright Firemage I know your stance. So I should really check out the DMC pack? When part 4 came out, it seemed a lot of complaining about back tracking. I liked the demo, but the idea of switching through two characters and playing the same levels again seemed odd.

I don't know much about 3, except that it has often been toted as the best DMC game around here.

Why do people keep comparing DMC1 to this game? These games came out in two totally different generations. Even DMC3 came out in a different generation then DMC1 and they were both on the same console. DMC1 was like 12 years ago. We need to compare the impact that DMC1 had on that generation compared to the impact DmC has on this generation. Its not fair to compare them by the game play because of the huge time gap. DMC1 revolutionized a genre and what has DmC done to this genre? DMC3 revolutionized the combat in this genre and as I say again, what has DmC done special to this genre that no other game has done?

People who complain about 4, should really get a clue, as the one main gripe...is present in DMC1 and DMC3

But yeah, get the collection, you get 3 better made games

People compare it to DMC 1 because this game does not reach a standard set by a game over 10 years old.

Well like I said, I only played part 1.. so I can't really compare it to anything. I'll either get DMC4 or the pack.. like I said, I enjoyed the demo of DMC 4.
