Who asked for multiplayer in a freakin God of War game? Don't know, doesn't matter. The game still has single player, it still has Kratos, it still has his iconic weapons, and the game is still epic in scale and beautiful graphically. But all the Final Fantasy games are different anyway (apart from direct sequels obviously). The Spirits Within had much of the atmosphere and themes you would expect from the series, but it lacked the concepts. A lot of people seem to think that "Final Fantasy" is so loosely defined that you can make absolutely any game, slap the "Final Fantasy" name on it, and it counts as Final Fantasy. FF13 is actually worse than The Spirits Within in this regard. It completely lacked the fantasy aspect and made it into science fiction for atmosphere, and it lacked the themes of a balance of magic and technology with magic as the central element of the game. The only thing it had from Final Fantasy was the concepts of the series, and even then, some such as the summons changed from mythological gods and creatures into mechs were altered to such an extent that they barely even counted. --- "Without me along, who will heal you when you're hurt?" - Rosa Farrell, Final Fantasy IV |

While not as deep as DMC3, DMC4, or Bayonetta, we did not expect it to be. We're getting exactly what we asked for, exactly what we expected. Sony didn't pass the franchise to an awful developer who thinks they are holier than thou. What I'm trying to say is that it's not a simplified, awful, shallow of a game when compared to its predecessors. --- Because the door was open.
