So, NT won't probably make DmC 2, but probably PG will...

Too bad that almost nobody bought that game...

XD

Just like DmC.

DmC will still sell more than most of PG games, except Bayonetta, lol

Your point?

I can't wait to see MGR sales. PG needs something solid.

Didn't Kamiya say he was working on the true successor ot DMC?

Bayonetta...
only DMC related comment he's made is that he's open to doing DMC5. Its just up to Capcom to follow through.

Considering it's struggling to sell 700k units, I don't think so, Tim.

If Platinum made DmC2 it would pretty much be DMC5, because Platinum would probably do everything in their power to make New Dante just like old Dante

Can I just ask what's so drastically different about new Dante other than the swearing? Only it didn't feel like much of a change to me

Well, this is obviously widely debated, but I'll try and answer that.

The story has changed massively. Angels now exist and Donte's mother is one, making Donte half human, half angel. Sporda is no longer The Legendary Dark Knight, but simply a general of Mondus who impregnated a woman. He's currently being tortured, according to Tamtam.
Devil May Cry always had cheesy, cliche story telling, but in DmC I feel that it's far worse, with childish, vile dialogue.
A lot of people also agree that the gameplay and particularly the combat is below the quality of DMC4, with NT using Unreal Engine instead of MS Framework.

The game is very different, if you're familiar with the previous games.

Being different doesn't make the game worse, not necessarily.

Yeah I know the changes they made to the story, I was talking more about the character. He hasn't really changed that much other than the swearing, which I agree they should probably lay off in the sequel. As for it being cheesy, the only part where I think that's the case is where Dante says 'I don't know who I am anymore'. That line bothered me a lot, mainly because it doesn't suit the situation or character, and also because its practically the last thing he says in the game.

Before I got the game, I heard a lot of people saying that ninja theory made him all emo, which I don't really understand at all. I think the main problem with the games story is that it struggles with reconciling the drama with Dante's need to crack a joke every 10 minutes. I dunno if you guys have played No More Heroes 2 but that game had the same issue. That and people said the combat had been ruined. I haven't played Devil May Cry 4 but I have played the first 3, and it didn't seem worse than those.

There's a few things I preferred
-the hookshot type mechanics, which allowed you to close distances
-being able to use 4 weapons at once.
-The enemies also seemed more fun and varied.
-Combat itself felt more brutal, I think it was the close ups combined with the weapons feeling like they had weight.

There are a couple of things I miss game play wise.
-Devil Trigger(it just wasn't as fun in this, although I did like the design)
-Being able to jump off walls.
-In DMC 3 you had the ability to basically use an enemy as a skateboard
-Not as many puzzles(to be honest, DMC 3 lacked these as well but I wish they'd bring them back.

I understand the game not being someones fave in the series but the amount of hatred doesn't seem justified. Its a lot better than Devil May Cry 1 and 2. 4 I haven't played and 3 I preferred some aspects but not others(that guitar).
