Was this game really necessary?

I'm just saying. Didn't hate the game but...It would be better if it wasn't made.

you're absolutely right. It's only ripped fanbase apart, and it's probable the only one result they got.

Not Capcom, I can assure you, considering they went as far as to make this game to spite Inafune.

Was it necessary to tear down an established franchise to make that game?

Was DMC 2 necessary?

Was a sequel necessary for DMC 1?

Was DMC 4 necessary at all?

Was Nero necessary at all?

There was no point in rebooting it. Capcom build a loyal fan base that guaranteed 2-3 sales with each sequel released. DMC4 sold well, received good scores, and had so many questions left to answer in a sequel. The biggest complaints were the story and backtracking, nothing which couldn't have been improved in a sequel.

Instead of nurturing that fan base, improving on the game and trying to attract more potential fans, they were like screw this. Let's forget the people that helped us get the franchise this far. They are not important. We can make a whole lot more money if we can attract everybody else.

Well, everybody else didn't care for the game. And the long time fans were treated with disrespect, the moment the reboot was announced.

Did this game make up for the loss of three Mega-Man games?

Gamers have lost their pride.
Complacency can be a sin.

After Megaman X5, every Megaman game was either crap or forgettable.

Capcom killed Megaman, there is no turning back.

Your point?
