What if this game had co-op?

How about this for a game idea; first toss out this entire game. Instead make it a 2-player co-op game with 12 levels or so, all of which are survival-levels. One person plays as Dante, the other Vergil or Trish, each with their own unique weapons. You try to survive as long as possible in each level, with tougher and more enemies spawning the longer you last. To unlock the next level, you have to reach a certain score-limit and beat a unique boss which spawns at some point in the level, though you can keep going for a high-score indefinitely even after you beat the boss.

As you score more points in a level, you can use them to upgrade your weapons or get new weapons or abilities within that level. (You start with only basic stuff at first in the level, and unlock more as you go on.) The selection of weapons or abilities available varies in each level.

I think this would sell a lot more copies and be a lot more popular than the game is now. Let's face it; single-player-only story-based games have been dying ever since 2009. People are going to buy this game, play it for 12 hours, beat the game twice, and then sell it back to GameStop a week later. Not many people, aside from hardcore fans like me, are going to sit around and play this game for more than a dozen hours. Co-op and multiplayer games are what sells these days. Just look at games like Borderlands 2; 6 million copies sold? DmC will be lucky if it could sell 1.5 million copies, let alone breaking DMC 4's 2.5 million copies-sold record.

Topic's been done before. You have people for it (like myself) and against it (like Kyrylo).

I have Slant Six's take on Resident Evil called Operation Raccoon City. This is objectively a bad Resident Evil title. A bad game in general, more so since everything wrong with it won't be fixed by a patch. Shame too since I thought it had potential to be it's own thing.

In any case, I never thought it to be because I played it with 3 other friends the whole way through, DLC campaign (which is a whole lot better imo) including. I was having too much nonsensical fun to care. I felt that might have proven the same here, I don't like it, but the idea of an action game having Co-Op is too good to pass up between me and my friends. Case in point, Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor's Edge, I don't even like NG, but I may consider NG3RE in the near future for the possibilities and have more games in a possible WiiU collection.

Devil May Cry is the King of HnS action games, Bayonetta it's Queen. I would love to see either of these games show the potential of Co-Op HnS games. Now seeing as DmC is supposed to be some sort of different take on DMC, the option for it was there but wasted potential.

Yeah the co-op and multiplayer features of Ninja Gaiden 3 were definitely great new features to add. It's too bad they screwed up the campaign so badly by taking out gore, multiple-weapons, multiple-ninpo, and level-up system that it received terrible reviews and hence terrible sales. But it looks like Razor's Edge will fix all that so I'm looking forward to it.
