Why? Possession by Vergil is a horrible idea as are the others. The clone idea wouldn't be as offensive, but it's still really bad.
The more that I think about the explanation, the more I realize that the dev team didn't put any thought into why Nero exists other than to introduce new players and to implement another play style. --- http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/9970/rocketsnailw.gif
Been stated in interviews that DMC4 takes place a year after DMC1, and in DMC1 Dante was 28. Though, it shouldn't be an extreme sin if they simply disregard those statements and just say it took place later in time.
Lady in DMC3 is like what, 17? Dante around 18/19. Devs claim Lady to be 10 years older than she was in 3. That's all we have to go on right now, so until stated otherwise that is Dante's age.
Reuben Langdon also stated that capcom was aiming for a performance of a man in his mid-thirties. So...yeah?
Since no game ever states Dante's age and it's far from uncommon to have conflicting details it would be better to not disregard the "Vergil's son" theory just because of that.
I prefer a combination of possession and a distant Sparda relative. It would explain why he has the Sparda blood, and also why Vergil's "soul" (or whatever) might be drawn and possess his arm in his vie for power. --- "Clue in, girl! Vergil's son just feels like the best... Also Sparda's descendants (Including Nero) All have demon blood so their ages are pretty hard to tell --- If you are 100% sure Redguards are the master race copy and paste this into your signature
