is vergil considered a villain?

I can't believe we actually have to discuss this. I guess Sasuke wasn't a villain near the end of Part 1 of Naruto. He was just gonna train with the guy who KILLED THIER FORMER KAGE just to get power to kill his elder brother. And I guess him putting a Chidori in Naruto's lung to get MS wasn't villainous or when he tried to snap his neck. Especially since he doesn't mind being consumed by evil to get what he wants. And that's just Part 1. Compare that to Vergil trying to get power by unleashing Hell on Earth, try killing his brother, and taking his amulet. I lack the knowledge and context of Naruto to accurately compare Sasuke to Vergil. | |

Trying to kill Sakura, Kakashi, and Naruto, Leaf Citizens and former teammates. Stabbing his own comrade, Karin after he found her a liability. Kiling a **** ton of Mifune's samurai. Tried to kidnap Killer Bee, a respected member of the Cloud Village, on Tobi's orders. Since he's a former Leaf ninja, that could have sparked a war between Leaf and Cloud. DEBIAZ posted... by the way, can someone clarify to me what's the difference between antagonist and villain in general for games/animes? (wiki, google said that villain are aka antagonists, same thing...) The short of it is this: A villain is more or less "evil". They do horrible things with no care for the consequences and their motivations are negative ones; greed, love of violence, etc. An antagonist also tends to do horrible things, but their motivations are generally "for the greater good". Antagonists are very much 'the ends justify the means' people. --- Contrary to popular belief, opinions can be, and often are, wrong. | |
