Well, in DmC, they took way too far. Most of the environments hurt my eyes except some of cinematics where it is nearly monochromatic.

Blame the horrible bloom effect NT used to hide the poor textures.

They've swapped in "Everything is Grey" with "Everything is Blue and Orange".

Vergils downfalls visa will be black and white.

NT wants a sort of colour symbolism. They are not very good at it.

I think it's a way of Capcom pulling out. As mention in the article, it's a way of saving money and based on the games sales; is it worth it?

Then again, this IS Capcom; who charges $.99 to change an outfit color! So maybe even if the game was successful, it's a great way to earn that supplementary income.
