Is this the end for Ninja Theory?

No. The mass gaming media praises them all the time, and they already got their (rather substantial) paycheck from Capcom. Regardless of how DmC sells, NT will be fine.

Unfortunately I would have to agree with you. However other major companies could see how much sales their games generate and decide not to go with them in future endeavors though.

I wouldn't say that...

What would a publisher think if they saw that the studio made a game for someone else that sold like ****? Would you hire them? They may not be hurting now, but in the long run they might be in trouble. This is their 3rd game that sold very poorly, a track record that publishers will look at and say "maybe the aren't the right choice".

I feel bad for the studio, they do have potential (except Tameem), but things aren't exactly looking up for them.

Capcom can only blame themselves for wanting to reboot DMC, they kept trying to push it further and further. NT originally wanted to make DMC 5. So they can't blame NT cuz they made a solid game which reviewed well, it's just that the fans hated it so it's Capcom's fault.

idk man...

I'm not really a fan of any developer being shut down.

I still think they'd be better off without Tameem running his mouth.

Honestly, I thought this game would be the end of Ninja Theory due to MGR completely overshadowing it. But now that MGR is out and has received pretty mixed reviews... I'm not so sure anymore. I know a lot of people were on the fence, and didn't buy DmC because MGR was so close to release...now they may turn around and buy DmC. Doubt it will save sales much though.

I always wonder, do we have data on how much money involved in making DmC?

The actual production cost, I mean.

Nt prodcution team is 80(?) persons. Assuming that everyone gets payed only 6k a month (which is VERY low) NT needs 6 millions dollars a year just to pay its staff. Add bills, taxes, equipment, licenses, renting Avatar's mocap studio and all that jazz and there's no way DmC costed less than 20 million dollars. Add marketing to the total and I wonder if Capcom even managed to break even.

It did? Other than some "journalists" not understanding how the game clock works the reception seems to be generally good.
