For people who think DmC reviewers were "paid off".........

I think you guys forget a little PS3 exclusive game called Lair. That game was horrible and the viewers (IGN, Gametrailers, etc.) knew it. It got so much criticism that Sony actually sent out "Review Guides" for the game to gaming news sites and magazines, stating they weren't "playing it right".

THAT is a fine example of a publisher trying to "pay off" reviewers for a good score for a game that is clearly bad. Now you're all entitled to your opinion, i personally love DmC, but DmC isn't a "Lair" kind of game! Just thinking of that game (Lair) makes me laugh lol!

here's another funny link regarding the Lair review guides.

That sounds more like an example of sony showing them how the game is meant to be played so they can review it better... Anyway I can't help but have a suspicion that some are in fact paid off, when you look at some of the reviews that barely say anything positive but give the game a 9/10.

You are right. We shouldn't attempt to cover incompetence or outright blindness with claims of being "paid off". We are sorry.

Lair was pure trash though.
DmC is mediocre atleast.
The reviews for DmC were suspicious though. Point out flaws give it a 9/10

Read the criticisms lodged at Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Now look at the reviews of DmC. Notice how the criticisms hold true for both games (aka apparently bad boss fights, lack of gameplay depth, short, and difficulty issues), yet DmC didn't get any of those criticisms or was actually praised for them as "it makes the game more accessible".

Funny, that.

So all things bad are equally bad, got it.

Not to mention that I doubt those things are true. Bad boss fights? Riiiiight.

Also, different kind of games.

Most 9/10 reviews only brought up the crappy boss fights and some bring up difficulty. There isnt a whole lot they actually criticized.
