Stopped caring about it a week after I beat it, and heard absolutely nothing about it ever since. Now that I'm starting to see Vorgil DLC gameplay sprout up, thought I'd ask how this game did, in terms of sales and whatnot, and what Capcom had to say about it since. --- ~Gujin HAIL TO THE KING, BABY
It flopped. Hard. Capcom had to lower the sales expectation from 2 mil down to 1.2 mil, and that's still not a certainty. They must not like their careers if they plan on making a sequel. --- I came here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I'm all out of bubblegum. http://www.mindistortion.tv/iwantyoursoul/?i_am=dillpickle61
Anyone who signs a contract stating they will not buy DmC: Devil May Cry, and posts a photo of the contract they made up (be creative), I'll paypal them $1. That's right, I'll pay you not to buy a game.
has the worldwide sales figure been revealed yet? Is there a source?
VGChartz has it at 610k globally across both the PS3 and 360. This is HALF of the already lowered expectations Capcom had of 1.2 million, and only 12% of the initial expectations of 5 million.
Then again VGChartz is hardly the most trustworthy site, so take that as you will. Assuming those numbers are anywhere near the accurate number however, it's safe to assume that DmC was the blunder of the century.
Edit: VGChartz also has the DMC HD Collection currently outselling DmC. Granted that's been out almost 11 months, but assuming DmC sales pretty much come to a screeching halt and move extremely few copies from now on the HD Collection will have sold more than DmC, which I find so deliciously ironic.
