I just cleared Metal Gear Rising about 2 minutes ago. The last boss was disappointing, he looks pretty stupid. Overall it was a pretty good game though.

Dude, you do not want to start comparing bosses between these two series... I'm just saying...

I did not compare or indeed have any intention of comparing. I just stated an opinion.

That boss played college ball, though.

I highly disagree with DmC having more content.

Hell, with or without DLC, MGR still has more content.

DmC has multiple difficulties, secret missions, a few costumes and S ranking all of it's levels. Overall, the story takes about 6-8 hours the first time through. DLC adds Bloody palace (100 floors of enemies) and Vergil's Downfall, 6 extra chapters with a new character, some new costumes and more difficulties.

MGR has multiple difficulties, VR missions, S ranking everything, secret items to unlock, and 70 different titles to obtain (which take multiple playthroughs). The first time through, the story takes an average of 8 hours to complete. DLC adds 30 more VR missions and 2 new characters with their own campaigns.

Overall, MGR has more content.

yeah that's true, there is more content with MGR. I personally feel like MGR is the better game even though it shows it was developed quickly, but I really do think people are being way to harsh on DmC.

Yes it's not as good as DMC3 and there is NO excuse for it not measuring up, but taken for what we DID get, the new DmC is great, it's just nothing new for the series (for the most part) and some steps back in other areas.

Length:

DmC. It's longer and has more content, more things to do. MGR is very short, but they also only had 1 year to start from the mess they inherited.

MGR is longer on the first playthrough and has more replay value.

Not in a million years.

Also, if you get to Revengeance after having started with Hard Mode (which I assume most of you did, like me) the combat shallowness really starts to show. Blade Cancel and Dodge cancel can only do so much for the combat if you have a limited move set for all weapons and no on the fly weapon switch, I'm being honest. The game is still cool to look at and cut enemies in different ways, etc, but the novelty runs out fast.

Did you learn your math by reading the U.S. budget? Because I call BS on your statement. You can't just guesstimate numbers around and come up with some kind of answer fitting your needs.

It took me more time for just one BP run than to just do all VR missions.

I don't have the time clock for my first playthrough on nephilim, because I redid it for SSS ranking the whole thing, I know it's over 8 hours (see below). My time on MGR is one evening (roughly 5-6 hours), and I had every data chip, left arms and men in boxes.

My playtime on SoS is 8 hours, which is a second playthrough, having already found most of everything. I did an actual real-time second run under 2 hours (real-time, from after work at 5, I had dinner at 7) of MGR.

It's way harder to SSS-rank DMD and HaH than to S-rank Revengeance, fact. If I'd apply your maths on it, put 3 times more content on DmC.

Disappoint as a character, agreed. But that was the point of him. You were supposed to have the "He's the final guy? Him of all people? A sleezy politcian?!" reaction. But then when you realize how OP he is gameplay and Story wise, he's no joke

But he was funny at times, especially with his swearing, Obnoxious, Football fighting syle personality. Its good to have a funny last boss once in a while.

MGR is definitely a better game if you ask me. It has more solid combat, a more stable story, when it tries to be funny its actually funny, graphically it's impressive (though I agree that it's a tie with DmC), and is actually challenging.

I still say MGR isn't that short though (I can beat MGS4 just as fast as MGR). Plus what MGR lacks in campaign length it makes up for in replay value.

Pretty fair assessment, in all regards. I haven't played MGR, and, while I don't doubt it's fantastic, this board has trumped it over DmC so many times to make a point.

Both games have their strengths and weaknesses. I don't see the reasoning in trying to push one over the other when they do different things well.
