This confirms that there will be a sequel, otherwise they would not leave it that open. It is obvious that they are already working on it. I expect we will be seeing DmC far more, maybe once a year or all two years. The engine is done and so is the fighting system, they also seem to change the cutscenes in a more stylish comic look all this will speed up the development time. Cannot wait. XD

It'll be developed on the PS4 and the Unreal Engine 4 has already been announced!

Hell Yeah!

it was confirmed that capcom WONT be doing any sequels to existing franchises on PS4.

Except it wouldn't be profitable...the sales from this game illustrate that

How would fixing the mistakes in a sequel not be profitable? Would that not be a prime selling point?

Way too many mistakes, plus characters are still bastardized and that can't be fixed. Look, a sequel isn't happening. It's the truth, get over it

Actually it has everything to do with it. Capcom won't waste the time or resources on a sequel for such a low selling game

Low sales don't necessarily stop sequels. If anything, now there's actually visible demand for a new Devil May Cry game. Figure if they fix up the mechanical and difficulty issues in a second game, sales and perception would be better? They know there's a market for such a game now.

There really isn't a market for a sequel to this though.

You have people like me who bought the game on day 1 and hated it and antis to get over for a sequel to work. Now consider that like half of the people in those 2 groups'll just see that NT are still making it or that it's set in the same world and automatically not care about it and you're looking at a game that will probably actually sell even worse.

The only real sells they could get with a sequel are from the people who bought this one and liked it but I don't see that making up for all the people completely alienated by the sequel automatically due to how horrible they found the first.

Basically what I mean is the only way a sequel to this game will work is if they do some hardcore level kickass marketing so people actually care enough to look into it and fix way more than just the "mechanics and difficulty".

No, read what again the article in the link that you posted; they basically want to start with new ips then work on sequels with "high expectations" since they gain experience and familiarity with the new platform. That problem happened to DMC4 , but its a shame that they didn't make DMC5 on MTFramework after their experience and work on DMC4 on new gen (ps3 and 360).

I personally want to see capcom innovate and make more franchises, then take their time and experience to make proper-high quality sequels, but i don't trust capcom after their recent games and marketing schemes.

"Hey our first game sucked, but we fixed it this time, we promise!" - It's not a good selling point.

This game has most likely sold around a 3rd of what DMC4 sold. Capcom may be stupid and stick to their poor financial decision with the direction of the franchise, but I highly doubt it.

Sorry guy

I agree with firemage. A sequel won't happen. It sold very little. Only games that make a profit gets sequels. For example. Vanquish from PT games is an amazing game. Its way better than the new dmc. It sold poorly. Its not getting a sequel.

Bayonetta sold 1 million. Sega said," nah...no sequel..no profiy." It got a sequel because Nintendo said, "here is the money! Make it."

People play Devil May Cry for the gameplay. People don't like DmC for the gameplay. Am I right?

I guess I just have more faith in people. Yeah, I can see why some choose to dislike this particular game, but those reasons can be fixed. I find it hard to believe the majority of people would automatically turn down a good game just because of the existence of another game that wasn't to their liking. Aside from a subset of users on this board, that is, but I am talking about people who enjoy playing video games.
