Enlighten me on this one. Most AAA games like God of War, Halo, COD, WoW each exceed or meet their sales expectations. This game however flopped.

You must be joking... or at the very least trolling

Aren't they AAA games commercially?

Yes... many AAA games fail.

Can you cite examples?

Tomb Raider

Yep, it seems that TR failed at sales, even if it managed to sell a lot...

Then again, I don't know the game's budget....It was probably very high, which explains why 3 million of copies sold aren't enough...

That's a shame, TR is a good game in my view.

almost everyone who plays it thinks its a good game. It could be, in fact, a great game. It also outsold every other Tomb Raider game. We know it still made money, just not a lot or nearly what SE thought it would. Not for a lack of trying to be sure

Also Resident Evil 6 failed to reach projections as well.

Not in the slightest. Many games fail to reach ridiculously high expectations that were bloated by overly large marketing budgets, but a decent amount of AAA games also sell terribly.

The most recent that come to mind are:
Darkness II
Both of the Medal of Honor titles.
Spec Ops: The Line
The Secret World
Tony Hawk: Shred

First? Hardly.

That "could" be Space Invaders II

Which tried to shoe-horn co-op into the single player for double the amount of quarters.
