Holy crap, I seem to have travelled back to January this time. Ah well, I'll save the babby teers for another time. 5 months is no big deal.

I agree, DMC5 would be the fat people's favorite even without trying it because of nostalgia while mature people wouldn't mind trying something new without freaking out over a new design.

Good analogy.

Aion is just like all other WoW clones, I mean, the Mage in Aion has a Fireball spell and can make Portals. WoW ANYONE??? - Aion Boards

Its actually a very relevant historical model.

I draw a different conclusion than most but find the analogy clever.

There wasn't a need to radically alter the series after 4.
There wasn't a need to alter Coke's formula.

There wasn't anything intrinsically wrong with DmC (from my perspective)
There wasn't anything instrinsically wrong with New Coke.

Both got stomped. Both will likely be forgotten.

I'm sadder about DmC because I really liked the ease of weapon shifting and felt that it did a good job of storytelling.
And, I can barely remember the taste of new coke.

Depending on what happens in the future, may be a textbook case for business school - making changes no-one asked for.

How is weapon shifting any easier in DmC? The original DMC series let you press a button to change weapons, now you have to hold a button or press a button and then hold a button, and I don't want to even start with story
