I been a DMC purist, since, the very beginning. I love DMC and everything about it. However, after playing other action/adventure games, such as LOS2, Strider, Yakuza and so on.

I must admit that the DMC franchise has spoiled me as a gamer. This is because Lord of Shadows 2, a game that I had high hopes (also a reboot) was a terrible game. The mechanics are bad in general. For an action/adventure game, it plays too much as GOW and it's jumping and moving mechanics remind me of "tank style" controls (not a good thing).

Even though, I heavily criticized DmC battle mechanics, and lack of lock-on and so forth. DmC battle mechanics and ease of movement far surpasses anything that LOS can provide to the player. Which is a shame since, LOS has a fantastic story, great characters, and amazing music.

Even the developers said that the low scores from reviewers were not a surprise because they also had their own Antoinades Tameen that refused to change the mechanics or improve them.

Just scroll down to the "controversial" section of the page, for more info on the matter.

So DmC is a better hack/slash than LOS2. Damn it, Capcom you ruined me from enjoying other actions/adventure games.

I've been saying this for a while. I think DmC is lame at best now that I've really gotten into the older DMCs, but it's still significantly better than most other HnS in my opinion, simply because it's trying to emulate the best in the business.

Basically, it's way more worth playing than LoS, Darksiders, MGR (opinion), and a few other trash HnS out there.

I've come to realize the only HnS similar to DMC worth playing is GoW and Bayo, everything else is ass.
Life has become far too boring for me lately.

I like Yabai, and really don't take much issues with DmC itself (color coded enemies and babbie level difficulty were dumb ideas) but the stuff surrounding it made it irredeemable to me.....well I said it.

Not gonna start discussion. But i disagree about LoS. At least enemies tried to kill you instead f dancing cabaret around, like in DmC. And bosses weren't motionless lumps of flesh barely moving and shooting da beams at you. Whole combat mechanic would have been good in DmC if it had any use. Instead whole combo system (while being weaker than original) is basically useless. You can buttonmash any enemy in DmC, and you still will get higher ranks. In the end even if combat is better in Dmc, it don't gives it any positive points at the end.

Been saying that the whole time. Why the **** are they doing trying to make a game with craploads of combat when they don't even understand basic things like staggers and stuns?

Even enemies in Yaiba knows to react when they are hit. And that was made by Sparks ****ing Unlimited.

Got to give MercurySteam credit for being original though. It's not like any other developer would make a this type of games where any common grunt can cause a knockdown status on the player.

Note how most of the enemies are just standing there getting hit. They have super armor, but they choose to stand and get hit majority of the time. They don't even try to attack until they are within a certain range, it's like Dynasty Warrior AI, it's way worse than DmC, sorry. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIBjzJFaqrg

Not to mention you can kill most enemies in LoS1 just by pressing R2, and if you keep watching, Brauner is ridiculously easy, like not even funny. LoS is terrible, and far worse than DmC imo.
