DmC seems to have just lost the one thing it had over DMC3...
...the ability to use all "styles" at once.

New wave of DMC3 combo videos incoming soon?
Man, between this and DMC4 getting a fan-made Doppleganger, it's a good time to be a DMC Prime fan.
Well, wow. :O
The guy who made the mod says that he'll see if he can get "all weapons switching" to work. Imagine the possibilities!
Given the stuff modders can do I wonder if it's technically possible to add a lock-on feature to DmC, or if it's too hardcoded to change that.
I can imagine it would be possible but quite a bit of work. I can't remember, but if the auto-lock "sucks" you towards enemies (in DmC, obv in DMC it does) there must be a certain range value where the auto-lock comes on and aims towards them. You'd just have to assign that to a button and overwrite any previous priority for aiming.
The thing is though, you would still run to the side (instead of strafe) so your movement wouldn't really be affected and as there are no directional inputs there wouldn't be much benefit to it really for the amount of work it would take to implement.
There is a change target button, so there's already an event there that could be looked into, to add a marker of sort.
But changing the movement controls for strafing and jump for evade, woah good times.
Neat. Thanks for sharing. I'll check these out when I have more time.
DmC's auto-lock is a lot like Bayonetta's. The difference is that the auto-lock doesn't have its own icon (It does in Bayonetta) and the lock-on doesn't auto-correct directional inputs in DmC. In Bayonetta, you can tap away-away melee really fast and Bayonetta will still stinger towards the soft-lock target, but if you hold that second input for just a hair longer, the soft-lock will transfer to a new mob before she stingers. In DmC, the stinger input will just take Dante in the last direction it picks up, even if say the throw on the analog stick releasing the second input may send Dante in the complete opposite direction.
Reworking the game to include all of DMC Prime's movement inputs isn't necessary; having the ability to see where Dante is going to go before an action and overwrite the game's script to randomly switch targets if anything happens to temporarily cross your targetting path would do miles to make the game more playable.
It would definitely cut down on instances where I'm trying to use Kablooey to kill multiple enemies simultaneously for style bonuses goes horribly awry.
I'm still waiting for a modder to find the debug option to turn on enemy health values (http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a261/Alexx17Echidna/DevilMayCry4_DX102010-08-2910-08-06-33.jpg?t=1283084300).
I wonder if DmC will ever have Dante Doppleganger mods.
But, yeah. Damn. That was pretty slick.
I'm going to pick up LPing soon. All constructive criticism is appreciated. Stuff to come soon
DMC4's skill cap is so ridiculous, I love it. I will never achieve it, but I love it nonetheless.
