Will they finally, FINALLY! allow an option to remove that %$#@ing Mercs timer?

I'm so fed up with having to wait to mod the PC version of the RE games to get a Mercenaries mode that allows for it to be played like the 'survival mode' we all deep down know it's far more enjoyable to play as.

That stupid countdown timer, that essentially reduces the game to nothing but a repetition fest of 'head shot > melée > get more time > repeat' is the most infuriating aspect of the past two RE games. Mercenaries mode's replay value is severely curtailed when it's the same, nauseating rinse-repeat play style every, single game. ~_~

Sure, have the time-base game as a Mercs mode option for gamers--I'm not asking for it to be removed outright. But, at least give those who just want to fend off swarms of zombies the option to do so.

We pay for / play the games. Give us the option to play as we want.

I'm fine with the timer. As long as they keep melee kills adding 5 more secs, the timer would never go down for me and my coop partners in RE5.

The whole time concept is why I don't like Mercs. Barely played it in RE4 or 5


I actually think it'd be better if it was a "how long can you survive" mode, scoring points by killing things at the same time. So both, what you killed, and how long you lived, would contribute to your score.

Should at least have that as an option. They could add all sorts of options, like in Batman Arkham City, you can choose options that change it in someway.

There's a lot they could do with Mercs, and they haven't bothered, maybe they will for RE6.

But it's repetitive and boring.

Having only one way to play a game mode writes its epitaph. Diversity is the spice of life. Many don't get this until they're married and realise their predicament.

I have to agree I hate the timer, and it always feels like too much of a rush, and running around collecting those clocks was a real pain in the ass.

I to absolutely despise the timer but I still played Mercenaries over story in RE5 because it was just the thing to do. I never worried about getting a super high score because I just didn't care enough.

An option would be nice. Capcom is regarding this version of Mercenaries as an all new mode, never done before, more expansive then ever.....I really hope they stay true to these words.

-Interesting stage selection
-Weapon layouts to choose from or create (Mercs 3D)
-Costumes do NOT count as characters
-Mode variation (Mercenaries, survival, boss rush, etc.)

If they had these four things implemented....I'd love this game 10x more which I don't think is possible!

While we are on the topic of Mercenaries, you guys don't think Capcom will make the same mistake they did in RE5 if they decide to add characters, right?

Is it really so hard to just add the characters into the existing modes?

Mercenaries would be so lame without the timer!
Everyone score would be exactly the same without the timer.

After every game you would see this:

150 kills
150 combo
SS Rank
Everybody wins
No Damage

If they removed the timer it would completely ruin mercs, and for me, that would ruin the game cause that was the only reason I played RE5. Is mercs tough? Yeah, but thats why it was fun. I don't want to play a mode thats impossible to lose. The score was 90% left over time, if you didn't build up time you could just shotgun spam everything and never lose.

You would lose the entire merc fanbase which is fairly large on the biomercs website. Sorry I'm not trying to be mean but removing the timer is a horrible idea.
