I find it hard to stay on a certain character. But I've nailed my two most used down to Carla and Sherry Costume-2.

Carla for Urban Chaos, Catacombs
Sherry for Steel Beast, Mining the Depths, Rail Yard and High Seas Fortress

Ada's default for me. The crossbow is really fun and unique. Shoot the basic enemy in the face and their head will explode. Shoot them with a Pipe Bomb, then melee them into a group for massive damage. Her automatic handgun is good for setting up her one hit kill melee attack, too.

Pirate Leon is pretty beastly, though I haven't unlocked everything yet..

But yeah, I love the sniper rifle and the assault rifle. Quickshot with the assault rifle followed by a bayonnet to their torso is awesome :D

Carla, Ada's default and both Sherries. Leaning towards Carla, but I tend to use Sherry more with randoms who look like beginners so I can keep an eye on their health with medic.

I just finished unlocking all of them last night with some help from a coop buddy. I haven't tried them all yet but I really like to use Carla, default Helena, and default Leon.

After some messing around, Samurai Chris, Carla, and occasionally Jake. Those 3 work well with counters which I do a lot.
