Counters Thread

List all enemy attacks that can be countered that you know of for all the enemies that you've encountered in this thread.

Zombie (Unarmed) - arm swing, running lunge (instant kill) and funnily enough, their acid spit. Can their crawling grab be countered?

Zombie (Melee Weapon) - weapon swing (instant kill).

Zombie Dog/Cerberus - pounce (instant kill).

Bloodshot - uppercut and pounce (instant kill).

Melee J'avo - sword swing and jumping sword slash.

Gun J'avo - pistol whip.

Napad - charge attack.

That's all I know of. The Napad counter varies from character to character. I've had Chris stop them and knee them, destroying their front shell in the process while Ada does a backflip to dodge them and leave their back (weak spot) vulnerable.

Well I think people didn't post since Counters all have the same basic effect, maybe they didn't see the point in enumerating them.

but for the hell of it:
Mutated arm J'avo (hard/blunt arm, not mouth arm): when it swings its arm you can counter it -- you grab its arm and beat its face in with it. you have to be close.

The thing is that some counters instantly kill some enemies, which makes them a huge asset in Mercenaries and to a lesser extent, in story mode as well. You could unload a couple magnum shots on a Bloodshot or you could space yourself, wait for it to try and pounce you, and counter it for the instant kill.

People seem to be underestimating counters in this game. Why dodge when you can use your opponent's attacks against them? All it takes is a bit of practice and trial and error.
