playing his campaign

and as soon as he "rescues" ada, he gives her a gun. You never give war refugees a gun, you handcuff them and escort them out of the zone. Wtf is he thinking

I don't remember this. I remember him telling Finn to look after her. I think Ada might have had the gun on her. But regardless, it should have been confiscated.

Chris didn't know so-called Ada was there when his team and he came in. She slyly claimed that she was a hostage to the new terrorist's organization called Neo-Umberlla. It's not Chris's fault for giving her a weapon to defend her from the enemy. It's his fault for letting his team into the trap and getting injected by Ada's C Virus bomb because he had responsible to keep his team alive or not leave them behind.

1. you never give a hostage a weapon for their own defense. Because that breaks your OWN defense. What if they turn and shoot at you? This is basic hostage control 101 that they teach you in law enforcement and military operations.
2. Entire thing could've been avoided if she was restrained properly

Is that a BSAA basic rule for that? I wonder what its rule mean this modern day?

You know, you'd think that Chris would be familiar with the name, and know that Ada isn't really the most trustworthy person on the planet. Even if he'd never met her face-to-face, chances are that he'd still have info on her. She is, after all, one of the survivors of Raccoon City, and that's a pretty short list.

I'm sure Ada could breakfree of any handcuffs that they'd have on them.
There was a lot more going on than just a basic hostage recovery, B.O.W.'s, etc.
I suspect since Chris is practically super/superior human, a gunshot from a weapon probably wouldn't be a big deal if she would have turned it on him.

Also, you know, zombies/B.O.W.'s are not exactly realistic to begin with, so adding realistic conditions to any of these situations isn't practical.

If I'm not wrong, SWAT handcuffs hostages during rescue missions.
