By that I mean, start fresh, hand it over to some other developer and let them do it. Would this be good or bad? --- http://oi47.tinypic.com/ofbvav.jpg

If someone else did it i probably wouldnt bother with it, if capcom themselves rebooted the series i would most likely check it out. --- Currently playing: Resident evil 6, need for speed most wanted 2013, Devil May Cry 2013, borderlands 2

Honestly, ninja theory rebooted DmC in a hundred different horrible ways.
I can't see how RE could possibly be rebooted in such a way. RE6 was a great finale game though. I wouldn't mind a fresh start to continue off of the hype from RE6. --- rexator-"Make it a money match so that the winner gets to crap in the other's mouth." PSN: PyroSpark7

So dumb it down and make the characters even more annoying?
And RE probably doesn't fit Capcom's bill of games needed to be whitewashed. --- I prefer Genaro's. But what do I know? I'm a bear. I suck the heads off fish! - Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

Don't want. As long as Capcom reboot the RE themselves, then I don't mind. --- http://setsunah.imgur.com I(Setsuna Henry) like Kana Hanazawa & Yui Ogura and wish to CALL THEM EVERYDAY

I guess to clarify, I don't mean for it to be rebooted exactly like DMC, just that Capcom hands it over to another company to develop, how it turns out is up to imagination. They don't have to dumb it down or anything. --- http://oi47.tinypic.com/ofbvav.jpg

I honestly don't think Capcom themselves at this point are competent enough to reboot the franchise in a way that's worth a damn. If anything giving them a fresh slate to work with would give them more leverage to turn RE into what they really want it to be (AAA action game on par with CoD).
If it were up to me I'd just wrap up the current storyline in RE7. From there Capcom should create spinoff series that could follow the more action driven style of RE4-6 and the classic horror style at the same time. I really don't see a reason why we can't have both if RE is truly their biggest money maker.

As usual, play the game and judge it for what it is, not what I selfishly think it should be.
There's no such thing as a "rule" or "commandment" that a franchise has to obey. --- There is no such thing as a "Quick Time Event done right". A game that has Quick Time Events is a "video game done wrong".
