My opinions of the new maps

I made a prromise with myself to not get them until I got my first 1.4 on a zombie map. Got home and did a few runs with Refleg, while we only scored 1.378 at our highest, we did really nail down a strategy for holding Lepos which worked really well. Just need to find another 2-3 minutes to add on the clock.

As I was about to hop off, I figured I'd atleast download the new maps, you know...just to see what they look like.

Of course, the moment they download, Matty sends me a message and we do a few runs.

I love Rooftop Mission- this will probably be my new favorite stage. It's a small, high octane, insane experience. HAve no idea what the boss requirements were, but we got him both times we played. While I knew there was an Ubistvo on the stage, it's appearance and subsequent murder of my parnter actually freaked me out as I went from looking for it when I heard it on the rooftop to seeing my partner all brutally murdered.

I know there is a common complaint about the Ubistvo killing the Napad- I'm sure this will be annoying to me at some point- but I have to say after countless UC experiences of death by Napad- I enjoyed watching him get destroyed by the Ubistvo twice.

There is no lull in this map- really from 20 + it's just not stop action and like UC it gets insane at 100+, but not unreasonably so. Chris2 still decimated the map with OHC's on punchers and grabbers- and fireman are weaker (only took 2 bullets before being counter killable- as opposed to MtD and UC which take 4)

A full dog pack spawning with 2-3 whoppers was crazy fun.

Tried Creature Workshop afterwards and well..I hated it. THe visuals were difficult and the stage's size was confusing- couldn't see where enemies were and a hard time keeping the combo alive as well as finding supplies.

Being fair, I'm pretty biased against Javo maps, so this didn't surprise me :-P

I used to dislike zombie maps until I learned how to counter Bloodshots mid-leap. Now I can't stop playing them. Rooftop is easily my favorite, followed by Catacombs.

I love J'avo maps, but I rarely counter any J'avo (don't know how) and Creature Workshop is incredibly annoying. It looks like an underwater amusement park, which is far too silly for me, and the enemies blend in too well.

It's funny you say that- when I was first playing UC I used to dread the bloodshot waves and would just quick-shot them all with the magnum (I pretty much only used Jake at the onset) now they are the easiest enemies in the world to deal with between countering the leaps or their uppercut.

I'm not as well-versed on Javo as I am with Zombies so can't go through countering details on all of them, (I'll leave that to other experts). For the Masked Javo with the swords, countering is actually pretty simple and in some cases easier than zombies. It typically takes 3 shots with a handgun, then they become counter-killable. Their stun animation is very minimal so quick shot- then two follow up shots to the torso seems to work great- just try to avoid aiming for the hard, arm or leg since they'll have a chance to mutate or put them into stun. You can also counter their little sword jump, but the timing on that is a bit counter-intuitive at the beginning. You can counter the insect heads that wildly swing their swords just by standing near them. Javo with machine guns will try to physically attack you if you get close to them, the counter timing is essentially similiar to a zombie. The shield javo do have a counterable attack when they lift their shields up. Not sure (and don't believe) there are counter options for the walking bombs or moths. I know there are others, but I'm still learning javo

Rooftop is definitely an amazing stage, it's a compact experience and I think that suits the zombie playstyle of mercs.

Workshop is extremely expansive, and I'm not sure what's going on with this stage at all. It's pretty, but I'm sure they could have thought of a better (more intuitive) way to make a stage out of HAOS incubation chamber.
