"Classic RE 6" run

#1Xean_LiteheartPosted 3/13/2013 10:11:25 AM
Thinking about it.....

The first REs had the all-time infamous Knife runs (Kill-all or No-kill speedruns, etc.), No Damage runs, Speedruns, and all that you could think of.

RE4 then came up with stuff like No Merchant runs, Handgun-only runs, Pro NM H/K only runs (H.gun/Knife, No merchant)...all that.

RE5 had nearly nothing, due to the constant need of the gun. Plus the knife sucked....

RE6 has some potential for special runs, I believe.

My Idea is that this run has these rules:

-Out in the Open items. Drops+Boxes are invalid.

-No Skills. Play on No Hope if you wish (Will quickly become a nightmare)

-No Melee. It IS a classic run, after all, where you can either shoot them till they die, or walk into one, let'em bite you, then run.

-You CAN move and shoot and dodge. This game wasn't made for people who like to stand still shooting.

Other ideas?

You seem to have the bases covered.

You won't be able to beat the copter in Chris's Campaign on Pro difficulty and higher
with No Boxes/Vases + No Drops rule, since rounds that are lying near grenade launcher
simply just not enough to put it down...
+
During the second copter fight in Chinese restaurant all rounds for grenade launcher are in vases.

and that's just the 1st thing that crossed my mind...I'm sure there's more

No QTE's - you can't perform ANY QTE's within the game. IMPOSSIBLE.

Resident Evil 5 had some knife only runs, at least in Desperate Escape as Jill.

..there's always no damage runs, too.

Outbreak had numerous different challenges, still the best game in the series.

Well, when I said Classic, I was aiming it at Leon's campaign. The other 3 don't really fit the bill or the requirements....which does suck.

Problem spots I found with a friend:

1)The entire gunshop scene. The Whopper really eats up ammo.
2)Outside the cathedral.
3)Lepot**sa.
4)Deborah.

Made it past 2 chapters, will be continuing probably tommorrow...

Potential other spots:

1)The first part of the tombs. Helena will sure have a hard time dealing with enemies...
2)Lepo on the lane.
3)*Biggest problem* Ustanak. I'm pretty sure it's the only place we'll have to brake the No Box rule.

Leon's Campaign is probly possible

1) I'm sure, gunshop is possible with the knife on adequate difficulties
Whopper is slow and predictable as hell...gonna take a while though.
Now Bloodshots without using counter attacks(melee) can be annoying

2)Outside cathedral - there are 2 incendiary grenades on the benches
+ 1 in the house with dog that has key
+ shooting Shreiker at the right moment(so he would destroy zombies with his agony scream)
should get you through the fight in front of cathedral

3)Is the real challenge with your rules(especially on higher difficulties)
She alone probly will "eat" all spare shells you'll accumulate in Chapter 1 and 2

4) DebOra is easy on anything lower than Pro.
Couple of shots from Sniper Riffle(I hope it comes loaded) in the upper claw at the start
(so that orange bulb would turn black). Then just wait for her to sit on the ledge above
explosive barrel, shoot the barrel, she'll fall for QTE...but you'll just use this moment to shoot the weak spot(if you would still have the bullets/shells/whatever)

Potential other spots:

1)The first part of the tombs. Helena will sure have a hard time dealing with enemies...
2)Lepo on the plane.
3)*Biggest problem* Ustanak. I'm pretty sure it's the only place we'll have to brake the No Box rule.

1) ...

2) Magnum and 2 bullet packs for it lies there for a reason

3) Ustanak is the least problem of all you've mentioned(even on higher difficulties)
Push the big boxes with explosives down(9 overall) and shoot them
9 precise shots with handgun = Goobye Ustanak!

I'm pretty sure that he'll be stoped by Lepo on Pro, no matter what...but I like the idea with Lone Wolf.

BTW, I suppose Partner Commands are also forbidden, otherwise you can just
point at the enemy with your laser scope(or whatever) and spam "Move In" command
Sure, it'll take a while, but I believe you can beat anything this way,
as long as you can keep yourself from harm.
